What's the best off roader available? Someone else's truck!
I always notice that people are a lot keener to egg others on when they won't have to pay the repair bill should it go pear-shaped...

I just don't think it's much of an alternative to the DA 35mm f2.4. It's bigger, heavier, lacks AF and is more expensive. The fact that it's full frame and has an aperture ring might make it popular with owners of Pentax film SLRs but I don't buy new lenses for my old bodies - I look for lenses of the same vintage.

Freedom of speech is supposed to cover allowing you or I to say what we please without fear of repression. It is naturally tempered by the requirement not to be gratuitously offensive - the difference between attacking the ideas/policies of an individual and making personal attacks. Saying that you consider Nikon to be overpriced or poorly designed is fine, calling Nikon users idiots isn't (however much you may be tempted!)

Not sure if you're already doing this, but try holding the camera pointing downwards while changing lenses, change the lens quickly and don't leave the camera without a lens (or a body cap). Also worth setting it to self-clean when switched on - this seems to work very well for keeping my K-m in a reasonable condition. I'm sure there are tiny dust particles on there but they don't show up in my images.

I depends on your street photography style. For me a much longer lens is a must, the DA*50-135mm is my tool for this job - at full 135 stretch.
I can frame much better and compress the background which should be as much part of the picture as the subject in street photography.
Wide angles might be ok for shooting from the hip when you are in close and don't want the subject to know what you are doing.
I like using wide angles for in close portaits, but the subject must be in on the act for this.
From a practical point of view the longer lens gives you a head start if things turn nasty.

I love it! Amazing little jewel of a lens in the best Pentax tradition. I've been attempting to shoot bumblebees with it but f2.8 didn't quite offer the depth of field needed. Ended up with a nice sharp flower, lovely bokeh, and a blurry bee!

Thanks for your help Matt!
I have changed the light seals on my Spotmatic, so I guess I will manage to fix the ME if needed. I also need to service my MX cameras, but these I would not touch myself. They are too precious to me, so they will be sent to a pentax technician for service in due time.
Having read a lot about the K28mm 3.5 on this forum, I managed to buy one in good shape from Sweden. I am very impressed with this lens, it is razor sharp and produces great colours. It has become my favourite "normal" prime lens on the K20D. With this background I do not have very high expectations for the M28 2.8, but when I found it yesterday for GBP 10 I could not pass it by I am looking foreward to compare the K and the M.

As for that review site, he seems more interested in numbers than in actually taking the lenses out and using them!

An MV1 for £120 BIN? Really? When I paid a fiver for a tidy one with jammed selector dial and another fiver for a mouldy 50mm f2 which cleaned up perfectly?
