I wouldn't buy something big from HK for that very reason. My K-m came from Binoculars UK, it arrived the next morning before the main post so I'd happily go back to them.

There won't be - the sensor doesn't look through the screen. In an SLR the image from the lens is reflected up onto the focusing screen by the mirror, this flips up out of the way when you take a photo. For the same reason I won't be too worried about a minute dust speck when I swap mine back, although I will be working in the bathroom after a shower as the dust levels will be minimal then.

I've now ordered an OEM Kx screen from them (should fit, the Km uses the same body) with a view to reverting to standard. The split prism is just too dark when you use something like a polarising filter, and I'm not sure that the focus is much more accurate than using the MK1 eyeball.

This time, I will have the right kit. A pair of plastic tweezers with nice wide jaws to grip the tab well. A pair of surgical gloves rather than those weird "finger cot" things. And a couple of jewellers screwdrivers to unclip the focussing screen frame and gently lift it while swapping the parts.

I cannot fathom the point of Twitter at all, unless you're doing something exciting like the Vulcan to the Sky team (who tweet regularly during airshow season, which puts paid to any will-she-won't-she talk about whether the Vulcan will be present or not). For the 99% of people who aren't delivering a new ship or maintaining a historic aircraft it's a bit pointless!

That'd be why I take two photos of anything particularly special. The best one doesn't go on FB, the one with the same subject but a different composition does!

I tried continuous mode for the first time recently (photographing my brother and his friends karting). I wasn't terribly impressed as despite using a monopod the resulting images were nothing like as good as the ones I took in single shot by carefully lining up and waiting for the right moment to shoot. I can only assume that the AF with my 100-300mm zoom simply wasn't fast enough to keep up!

Think of all the iconic photos of the racing greats. I doubt the photographers even had a motor winder for most of them, yet they still managed to capture the atmosphere perfectly. If they could do that with subjects flying past at 150mph+ then why on earth would anyone want to blaze away in full auto continuous mode at a zoo animal that isn't even moving?

I've set mine so that only friends can see anything about me. I don't even show in search listings and anyone attempting to access my profile will only see an indistinct photo of me (I'm about 20m from the camera so you can imagine the lack of detail!) and a link to attempt to add me. If I have no recollection of the name and there are no friends in common, it gets ignored.

I do wince at some photos people post on there. Especially when it's the same three people gurning at the camera in slightly different poses. Can't they find some more interesting subjects or compositions? I feel bad enough for posting tons of close-ups of garden plants, although apple blossom and flower heads are often fascinating if you use a decent lens!

What I have learned is not to take notice of a lot of advice. I've been told I should crank noise reduction up all the way (there must be some disadvantages, otherwise the camera would ship with it set to high?), or that I shouldn't buy old lenses because they're "not designed for digital", or that I shouldn't shoot JPG because it's "snapshots rather than Photography".

Personally I cannot care less. I'm getting results I'm happy with and they seem to get good reactions from other people too. If it looks right, it is. I'm not doing this to satisfy "the rules", it's supposed to be fun!

How on earth do you open a banana from the "other" end (the one without the stalk)? You'd need a knife to get into it as opposed to just using the stalk as a handle to break the skin!
