I too believed the reviews of the old M 40mm, then I bought one. It's now my favoured lens when I need the smallest possible camera. Currently it's attached to my Super A with a fresh roll of HP5 installed, awaiting the next urge I have to go and shoot some film.

Don't get drawn into paying over £100 for them, as they're not especially rare and the cheaper 50mm f1.7 leaves it standing in image quality. But if you want a very small but decent lens it's worth hunting for a good one.

How do we go about reporting posts to moderators on here? Some bottom-feeding spammer appears to have got in!

The Asahiflex is a marvellous little camera, I have been keeping an eye out for one although I think juggling a handheld light meter and the camera would be a bit tricky.

I use the GIMP and the UFRaw plugin. UFRaw opens the file, at which point I tweak white balance, exposure, saturation, etc. It then passes the file to the GIMP, at which point I heal any blemishes. After that it's a simple "save as" to get a JPG.

You do have to wonder how much they'd have saved if they'd just taken it back and fixed it in the first place, without legal experts getting involved...

It occurs to me that between the members of this forum we probably have every autofocus 28-80mm Pentax have ever made - anyone fancy a huge test thread with a view to working out which is the best one?

I have these three examples, although judging by the Dimitrov site the latter two may be optically identical aside from the slightly smaller aperture of the third lens. I also have the FA 28-90mm. Of the four, I think the FA 28-80mm f3.5-4.7 is probably the best despite being heavy (due to the power zoom gubbins, which doesn't work on my K-m).

There's still environments that I won't take my K200d into esp in cities and anywhere abroad (outside western Europe certainly) and the older film cameras still have a place for me in these sorts of situations as I think I am possibly over paranoid and protective of my Pentax gear!!!! Plus much, much cheaper to fix or replace.......
Same here. I find I'm much happier taking my film bodies into damp or rugged environments (such as scrambling around rocks) as I know they'll survive minor knocks and in any case won't cost much to replace if a total loss.

Annoyingly, as per usual, we had cloud!

I'm wondering if this is why my satellite TV has been wobbly for the past few days? It seems to be affecting both dishes so it can't be due to one of them being misaligned. The problems include pictures breaking up and the picture freezing while the sound carries on. Anyone out there with a Sky/freesat dish having these problems?

(I'm on "buy the bits and install it yourself" freesat but I'm receiving the same satellite as the rest of you - Astra 2).

Hybrids are nothing like as good as the official figures suggest. They're allowed all sorts of tricks for measuring MPG or l/KM including running on pure electric for some of the time.

In the real world the best MPG/performance combination is likely to be a 2l TDI of some sort. Saab made a brilliant 150bhp unit in the 9-3 which they've now boosted to 170bhp, goes like a jet fighter and still returns close to 50mpg. It also handles properly so you don't need to lose momentum around bends - if people stopped panic braking and learned to corner properly then they'd cut their fuel use, whatever they drive.

Better still - the FA 43Ltd. Slightly deeper true but practically a stop quicker @ f1.9 v f2.8 AND it will work with any K mount body, not just the crippled KAF2.

Got better curves as well

Last time I looked the FA 43mm Ltd was over twice as expensive as the 40mm. I'd love both, but I'm more likely to scrape the cash together for the 40mm with this in mind!
