My DA 35mm f2.4 is here - managed a few test shots before it had to be wrapped up (it's supposed to be a birthday present in just over a month's time!)

A bit rushed but here's one of a brick barbeque at f2.4, ISO 400:

Up the garden at f3.5, ISO 400:

and finally a lavender flowerhead at f2.4, ISO 100 - demonstrates the bokeh pretty well I think, and it's very sharp indeed if you zoom in:

In short, worth every penny and then some!

I've got an Asus Eee PC 901, had it two years, works very well (especially now I've dumped the daft Linux it came with and put a better distribution on - Ubuntu). Runs the GIMP and UFRAW, more than ok for simple manipulation such as healing irregularities and cropping images. It also runs the Hugin panorama maker happily.

I'd love one of the new ones with the flip screen which can be used as a tablet or a normal netbook, only snag is they only seem to come with Windows and I rather like Ubuntu now.

I actually managed to get lens flare on Monday. Evidently my IR filter doesn't have an SMC coating, as normally I'd have got away with that shot!

Well the only person I know with a FF Sony is female, so it isn't that weird!

Not sure - I remember reading that the Z-5 can also do it but has to be set up by a Pentax dealer (and I doubt any still have the kit to do this, unless it was some sort of secret debug mode).

I think in my case it'll be replacing my A 50mm f1.7 (no AF and a bit long for walkabout digital use) and my K 28mm f3.5 (no AF, no A setting, a bit slow) in my standard bag (also contains 18-55, K 120mm f2.8, and F 80-200mm or A 200mm f4).

That said, I'd love to see Pentax bring back the K 28/3.5 with AF and an auto aperture. It's an absolutely gorgeous lens and will be moving to my film collection, most likely on my KX. I will be testing the DA 35mm against this lens as IMO it's one of the finest walkabout lenses available for a DSLR.

I thought we had it bad with the inevitable "nose print" on the screen

Apparently users of Sony full frame cameras end up with a large kiss mark on the screen, if they use it while wearing lipstick!

I think a standard Z1 is the only AF SLR I'd like to add to my collection, for a rather esoteric reason. It can be set to leave the film leader out, making it compatible with my daylight developing tank which loads film in the same way as a camera does.

Unless any of the MZ series can do this?

Yep, that's why I'm bothering to try! I did have a brief go at using my DA 18-55mm on film but the vignetting was visible in the viewfinder, so I didn't bother.

Wondering if anyone knows how to get this part out without wrecking anything? I have a working MV1 with a damaged screen (mirror foam goo) and a non-working MV with a good screen, so I'm looking to swap the parts over.
