Boots sell prepaid slide film but I have no idea what the cost/quality is like.
Assuming all Boots have it on 3 for price of 2 it's around £16 for three rolls. Quality is fine, probably not archival but I've got slides shot on it over ten years ago which are still as good as ever. Just remember to take it to the post office and send as a small packet, as they won't accept it with a first class stamp now.

The main advantage of a prime now is the size. The 35mm is a lot smaller than a zoom which does help when carrying it around.

Yup, but it's an old house with thick walls. Can't hear it ringing from living room to kitchen!

Bronica MF gear is being acquired. In the slightly odd position of being able to afford a lens which was too cheap to ignore and a grip in a similar situation, but not the camera to go between them yet (two weeks or so to go).

Pentax did make a couple of attachments but they're really intended to be a telephoto or wide angle adapter (respectively). Have a look on Dimitrov's K mount site for part numbers.

On a cheap as chips DIY basis I've heard that people have got good effects from an old milk carton (the translucent plastic ones). Simply wash, dry, cut to fit and give it a go.

I wonder just how many 645n bodies and FA645 lenses will end up in landfill sights...
I doubt many will. However, a lot of lesser electronics do end up there...

The best one I read recently was a model train manufacturer's response to people who'd contacted them worried about the "This product contains...known to the State of California to cause..." label. They more or less said "We just put the labels on because it's cheaper than some idiot suing us, follow the instructions and you're at no risk from our models!"

I'm currently in the middle of the usual mobile phone problem:

Person calls you, but you've left the phone in another room so miss it. They leave voicemail. You call back...and get their voicemail!

To be fair I'd think it will be pretty long-lived. The earliest Pentax lens I can find with a plastic mount is the old FA 28-90mm which was apparently first released in 2001, so those are coming up to ten years. I've got one which appeared to have seen almost no use (so not much of an indication) but the plastic appears to age well. I know some plastics go brittle with age but this still seems ok.

The 35mm f2.4 weighs very little so it shouldn't stress the mount, and it relies on the old school screw drive AF so that should help. I won't expect it to last as long as the Super Takumar on my Spotmatic but I'd be amazed if it isn't still working in a decade or two, assuming a functioning camera body can be found to attach it to.

I may try that next time - I usually fix it by giving them a good clean with some monitor spray and a soft cloth, and in the case of cameras replacing the foam light seals.

Being able to make the kitchen smell like a chemistry lab is an interesting side-effect of developing film at home...

I'm just waiting for the cases of Police on stake-outs being reported to that terrorism hotline thing. Think about it, they're behaving very oddly, hanging around, not recognised locally, avoiding company...

On a related note, a tale from "The Troubles":

A petrol station attendant noticed that the man filling up his car outside had a pistol sticking out of his belt, so called his friend in the RUC and reported "Four men, one armed, dressed in civvies". The coppers scrambled mob-handed to protect their mate, screeching to a halt outside and trading gunfire with the men. After a short time the following was heard:

"Cease fire! Police!"
"Cease fire! Army!"

Supposedly the incident was kept out of the mass media...

It has to smell better than the occasional camera, lens, or flashgun I buy which has obviously spent the previous twenty years or so with a heavy smoker. One ME Super was so bad that it sat in an empty room for a fortnight before I could handle it without feeling ill!
