Just a load of reasons why I'd never do a wedding - sounds like a lot of stress with great potential for it all to go horribly wrong!

Landscapes. They don't sue you if you make them look fat and if the results are terrible you can go back tomorrow and try again. Much simpler!

Bear in mind that the f1.4 will probably cost more and doesn't have the A setting, so you'll be using stop-down metering. Indeed, the A version of both will cost more than the M version - my guess would be that the M f1.4 and A f1.7 would be about the same price (maybe the f1.7 slightly cheaper) with an A f1.4 much, much more expensive.

The plastic part in the A f1.7 aperture mechanism is the ring you turn AFAIK, not a problem on digital as you'll be leaving it set to A all the time.

The BBC's approach to using images in website news reports has annoyed me for some time. A few years ago they used a photo taken several miles from the scene of a fatal accident to illustrate the story, leading you to wonder why they bothered with a photo at all. What was it supposed to show?

To put it in terms the London-centric BBC might understand, it was like using a photo of Tower Bridge to illustrate a story about something in Hackney!

I'm not entirely surprised by the price. The M series version seems to go for around £100-£150 and the A will naturally be rarer as people had started to move to zooms (at least for telephoto lenses) by the time they were released.

I nearly bought one a few months ago and now wish I had, as they seem to have settled at the £150 mark rather than the £90 or so they went for then. Recession? Not amongst people buying Pentax lenses apparently!

Bear in mind that there could easily be some sort of multiplexing on the grip contacts. I'm just thinking about computer keyboards where a comparatively tiny number of pins can pass details about an awful lot of key presses.

That's what he has, with the motorsport package.

It'd probably fit on a chicken too, to get back to the original topic!

My brother has assorted helmet cam-type things to attach to cars. You'd be amazed how good HD video footage from a camera strapped just below the numberplate (so about 6" off the ground) is in terms of looking scarily fast at legal speeds!

I still wish I'd bought one of those model rocket kits with the 110 camera built in before it became near impossible to get 110 developed (or indeed find the film in the first place).

Yeah, that was more or less my reaction!

I can see Wifi being extremely useful to people shooting RAW - just leave your laptop running in a corner and have the camera dump images to it while idle, freeing space on the SD card.
