So the entire Japanese allocation of silver DA Limiteds sold out within 24 hours? Can't wait to see what prices they turn up at on eBay!

just read the fine print, as there might be one guy selling pictures of the lenses for $500.00

Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Very true!
Interesting to see them suggesting the possibility of re-releasing the FA645 lenses in Europe again - they must have found a way around the toxic solder problem. Wonder if the FA* lenses still in production for the domestic market might find their way overseas again too?

Just like getting TEL away from petrol, lead is out of solder. All good?Very true!

Well the benzene levels increased dramatically in lead free petrol and as far as the lead free solder goes...imagine the risk of your SDM motor going short circuit?

As always, it's not a certainty but it just goes to show that there's never a free lunch.
Best regards
Too far from a shore.

I wonder just how many 645n bodies and FA645 lenses will end up in landfill sights...

Whether it's a good thing is hotly debateable, but it's happened and I can't see the EU turning back. Somewhere out there though I'm sure somebody's working on a formula for solder with all the properties of lead but without the actual lead in it - once they perfect it I'm also sure they'll be very, very rich.

Maybe that's what they'll be using on the old FA645 lenses?

I doubt many will. However, a lot of lesser electronics do end up there...I wonder just how many 645n bodies and FA645 lenses will end up in landfill sights...
The best one I read recently was a model train manufacturer's response to people who'd contacted them worried about the "This product contains...known to the State of California to cause..." label. They more or less said "We just put the labels on because it's cheaper than some idiot suing us, follow the instructions and you're at no risk from our models!"
