This blog posting made me smile, especially the entry for SWIONWIN.

Heh, nice find. I do like it when a company has a sense of humour.

Just a load of reasons why I'd never do a wedding - sounds like a lot of stress with great potential for it all to go horribly wrong!

Landscapes. They don't sue you if you make them look fat and if the results are terrible you can go back tomorrow and try again. Much simpler!

Then there was the profesional wedding photographer who agreed to give a talk at Durham Photographic Society - and that's what he did. He arrived without a single image to show us. Just talked and talked and talked for more tnan an hour.

Did anyone walk out? Or ask him why no images?

I haven't the slightest interest in shooting weddings, and that (very funny) link has only reinforced that feeling!

Credit to those that do it, and do it well, they earn every penny they get.
If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.

Apparently.

I guess lens rental firms have to have a sense of humour having seen some of the horror stories online about lens damage/loss. For example:

Gutted!

Click on the link under "the thread:"

They have to laugh or they'd cry!

I came across a good one a while ago (can't remember the link). A customer had managed to crack the front element on a rented lens, but before sending it off to be repaired the rental firm took a few shots to demonstrate what effect the damage had on IQ.

Surprisingly the answer was "very little"! The images didn't look bad at all considering the fact that the front element was essentially only held together by force of habit. One to bear in mind if you're ever offered a desirable lens cheaply because the front element is scuffed...

Another one! I've only recently seen that video from Mark Rebilas when his 400mm f2.8 Nikkor got smashed to bits by a drag racer:

For money I haven't the slightest interest either, but for fun it's great. I shot Ms Smeggy's nieces wedding last year and had a fun time. Got loads of great people shots and wedding abstracts.

Actually, now you come to mention it, for fun I guess it would be interesting.

Definitely not for money though.
