Hi Stuart,
I really wouldn't put non-OEM ink in a printer used for serious photographic printing. I do know a bit about it, as colour management consultant specialising in creating remote printer profiles!
I see a lot of customer's targets printed with genuine and non-OEM ink, and the Canon or Epson inks always have a wider colour gamut and a higher D-max, not to mention being smoother with better grey balance, etc.
Tests done a few years ago by https://www.aardenburg-imaging.com/ from a Canon Pro-100 with Precision Colors Inks, which is one of the very best non-OEMs, showed that fade-resistance was much worse than with canon ink.
I used to have a Pro 9000ii and have a print on my wall in sunlight, which has been there about five years without fading. This printer only ever had Canon ink and never had a serious clog. I do agree that the cost of inks is horrendous though, and I was always installing new carts. The tiny size didn't help!
Cheers,
Phil

Hi Roy,
I'd suggest downloading the Manual from the Metz site. It's in a zillion languages, and English is in about the middle. Best bet is to set it up to the Pentax setup and try that. Unit supports various manufacturer's as standard. If that doesn't work for you try Manual with the Sync-cable. Many Macro fans recommend manual flash exp. anyway.
It's wireless using the popup flash as an optical Controller. Worked for me for years with the K5iis, and for the last few days with the KP. KP seems a bit more predictable, probably because the popup flash is only 6 Guide No., so less ambient light (without the IR filter)?
It's all-in-one with nothing attached to the camera's hot-shoe.
Well-made in Germany, not China!
It tends to over-expose a bit, but flash comp on the camera works.
Cheers,
Phil
Also there's a few fairly old reviews if you Google them. The American Forum also has a few User Reviews.

Hi Royd,
Have had it for quite a few years, first with K5iis and now with KP, used it with a Sigma 105mm F2.8 Macro, and now with a new Pentax SMC 100mm F2.8 DFA WR (with a 49mm stepup ring).
Works fairly well with PTTL using the camera's built-in flash as a Controller. I don't bother with the clip-on IR filter.
Gets a few comments from other photographers at wild-life areas. Not sure how you'd use it without a pop-up flash?
Uses 2 x AAA batts, which last a long time. I always carry spare recharged ones in the handy plastic case it comes in.
It does have a cable though, which seems to work, manually?
I sometimes wish I'd bought the Pentax ring-flash at nearly twice the price, which is now discontinued, and as rare as hen's teeth!
I believe that macro flashes aren't terribly good with PTTL, or other metering systems?
Cheers,
Phil

Thanks Joe!
Lens received 9.0 am very well packed, and in great condition. Looks almost new, even the box. Just done a few indoor shots of rulers, etc., before venturing outdoors, and it's looking very sharp!

Cheers

Hi folks,
Just to update, have bought a used K-7 from SRS. Much nicer experience (even Watford in the rain!) than messing with ebay! Nice camera. Still getting my head around the controls!
No doubt will be asking many questions on the SLR forum page!

Cheers,
Phil

Hi folk,
Just joined, so please be aware of my lack of experience!
Haven't got a current working Pentax at present, but am looking for a decent dslr, probably a secondhand K20D.
Will be shooting Raw mostly. Use Photoshop and advise customers in colour management for a living.
Spending a lot of my spare time in scanning and printing many old colour and mono negs taken on my old ME Super from about 1981 to 2001 when it packed up. Still have it and the lenses. Have been using a lesser breed of digital since then.
So would a K20D be a good choice. Probably from a dealer on ebay. I fancy having a chance of returning it if it is no good. What would be a good price? I don't see point of buying a K200d s/h for almost price of a new K-r.
