Hi Mike.

Go to Blocklayer.com, & you will find the facilities to draw &, subsequently, print protractors up to 8"in diameter.
This or, rather, 90 degrees of it, will sit on the focus ring of your 200mm f4 nicely.
Pint 360 & you've 3 to make mistakes on!
To make a shoe/cradle for it to sit on securely, first ascertain the radius of the focus-ring/barrel. To do this, take 50mm wide strip of ordinary plain copy paper, wrap it round the barrel allowing it ti overlap at the end.
Ensure its tightness &, with a sharp pin, prick a mark through both layers of the overlapped section.
Remove from the lens & you have a v, accurate circumference of the barrel.
Using C = 2 x 22/7 x R, you will find the radius of the focus ring, which can then be applied to the protractor you've printed off Blocklayer & cut-out therefrom.
A piece of card cut to suit the dims of the chord of the circle x about 50mm wide should be placed on the lens focus barrel & secured with 2 rubber bands, keeping the centre line clear.
(You will need to decide onto what stiffener you will stick the protractor, 6mm foamcore is not too much.....)
The gluing of the protractor, with its lens-chord cut-out,is quite a fiddle, inasmuchas it MUST be set so that the the plane of the protractor card is as square as possible to the lens axis.
When set/fixed remove the rubber bands & retain them as they will used to hold the device in position when in use,

Then arrange a pin /pointer fixed (magnet/) to the camera body, tripod,etc, of a length
to reach the degrees arc of the protractor.

In practice, so position the protractor for its arc of degrees to cover the relevant range for the depth of focus of the subject.

Decide how many degrres of focus per shot & away you go!

Focus for each step using the focus ring on the 200mm, 1.5 degrees of focus ring rotation per shot. Aperture set on the Componon, f5.6.

All on Pentax Auto Bellows M, min. extention.

Cleaned-up, then taken with K5 plus Pentax M 200mm. f4, 50mm. f2.8S Componon enlarger lens reversed on the front.
Diffused & reflected Godox TT600, on nmanual.
