I was browsing another site and came across the following photograph:

link

It will be perhaps a little too chocolate-boxy for some tastes, but it caught my eye. It is part of a 'tutorial', so I read on to see what the photographer had done to achieve his result.

Quite a lot it turns out. All the elements are 'real', but not all were real at the same time. The poppies moreover have been extended to cover an inconvenient road on one side of the picture and equally inconvenient houses on the other. The background is imported, as are the clouds and the girl. The photographer is entirely open about all this.

The photograph seems to invite us to consider it as realism, but it is in fact a thorough confection. I wouldn't have known if the photographer had been less honest, and feel slightly uncomfortable singling him out. He's produced an attractive photograph. But -- and of course this is a long-running debate, intensified many fold since the introduction of digital photography -- when is a photograph no longer truly a photograph. Is Photoshop the modern Pandora's Box?

Hitech grads leave no colour cast, though I think it's fair to say that most solid ND filters encounter some sort of problem once they've reached the 10-stop level (ranging from barely discernible to really quite bad). While admiring the quality of Lee glass filters, it hardly needs saying that they break expensively.

I use hard grads mainly, but with soft on standby if really needed. Hi-Tech are cheaper than Lee (or were when I bought them) and just as effective. They are less common than 1, 2, or 3-stop grads but a 1.5-stop grad can come in handy. For wide-angle shots using filters, take care to use wide-angle rather than standard adapters. You may find yourself using your 10-20 less than you expect, and as pointed out above don't neglect the occasional possibilities offered by a telephoto.

A remote control is, I agree, a good idea - and not simply because I happen to be selling one right now. But you can get away with setting the timer instead.

All these items are in good condition and function as they should. Many but not all are boxed.

I've used the batteries as back-ups, so they've not seen heavy service. They drain more quickly than the branded Pentax battery, so I would not recommend sole reliance on them.

UK postage is included in the prices below. If you are interested in any, please identify the item(s) in your message using the numbers I've given them.

I can include photos if requested, but by and large there isn't a great deal to see ...

1) Pentax lens cap 58mm £6

2) Pentax lens cap 49mm £4

3) Pentax K bayonet-fit body cap £4

4) Heliopan short screw-in lens hood 58mm dia. (I used it on an FA31 to allow attachment of Lee filters) £10

5) Hoya hmc UV(c) 49mm £5

6) Hoya skylight 58mm £7

7) Kenko UV 49mm £5

8 ) Hoya circular polariser 49mm £10

9) Hoya super hmc pro1 UV filter 58mm £12

10) Hoya hmc pro1 UV filter 58mm £10

11) i]  non-Pentax D-Li90 battery for the K5 etc £6

12) ii] non-Pentax D-Li90 battery for the K5 etc £6

13) Pentax remote control F £10

Thanks Roger. Glad everything reached you safely. I didn't mention that when, as seems customary now, the woman at the Post Office asked what was in the package she got quite alarmed at my answer: a flash gun. I think she only caught the last word.

Anyway, nice to do business with you ...

It rotates and tilts from -15 to +90 degrees. This is a TTL not a PTTL flash -- I'm sure many on the forum understand the difference (one is a predictive approach to exposure, the other reactive). The following link takes you to an exchange of views on the the two systems, which may help those new to these acronyms. http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/6-pentax-dslr-discussion/99153-difference-bet...

I'm looking for £35 including postage

Also for sale is a Yongnuo wireless trigger, with instructions (no box).

Slot the controller in the camera's hot shoe and place the flashgun in the receiver and the flash will remotely fire as the shutter opens. Also supplied is a connector for those occasions when the equipment being used (eg a studio light) requires it.

I am looking for £20 including postage
