I've got an M37 - M42 adapter, it's a little fiddly but it does work. Shame though, I'd have snapped your arm off for the M42 version but I'm not really interested in the earlier one.
I'm with you Hefty, would have gone for it if it was the M42

I may have even had a go at this one if it was pristine and had it's original caps and case. but I think I will pass on it.

So it's not the rarer m42 Takumar version but the earlier M37 version.

You can still get an adapter for it.

Very reasonable I thought, I wonder if he would refund the postage if I needed to return it.

Nick,

I got tired of lugging all the gear around with me, and decided to scale it down. This is what I am using currently, It's a Manfrotto monopod 334B with a Manfrotto head 393, I also put the head onto a tripod, depending on the situation. I find it a more user friendly rig than the 2 flash setup on tripod.

I also use several different flash heads depending on the macro lens I use, from extreme closeup using stacked lenses or my Pentax A*200mm when I use the Pentax 540.

I would be wary of that flash bracket in your link, those Chinese ones are not of the best quality, I purchased a similar one and found it wasn't strong enough to hold up any of the flash heads I had, it was rubbish. I ended up building one myself. And I have owned the Novaflex, it's expensive and very heavy, it's also way too long for my liking. I would recommend, if you like building things, then make one yourself.

As for results, The dual head is good for eliminating shadow and getting an even light coverage, The ring flash pentax AF160C is an excellent flash but can leave circular hotspots on you image and is difficult to diffuse, it can also leave the image a little flat. All the options will give good results in certain conditions and situations and it takes a lot of experimentation, plus trial and error to settle on a system you are happy with.

I have a number of old threads on here (do a search) with some of my flash rigs, some are good for a laugh and others may help you with what you are looking for. Good luck

Nick. It can be locked into any position you desire,

Attaching the flash directly too the plastic shoes is a little fiddly and tight. When I was using it I removed these and attached to small ball heads to each end with better quality cold shoes on each, I also used it wirelessly in this manner.

Those KPS eyepieces are very good, I use one on my K7.

It's actually very light, made of aluminium, less than 400grams, It flips up for either landscape or portrait shooting. cheers.
