You never mention the IPS this time John. Unfortunately, you seem to have the same Luddite mentality of a lot of 'older' photographers. You are reluctant to embrace newer technologies and prefer to stay comfortable but what you know best while the more foreword thinking creatives move ahead of the game .
That's interesting Glowingblue, because plenty of people would have attributed exactly the same sentiments that you express about Microsoft to Apple. They might argue that Apple controls the apps available to a degree bordering on strangulation, thus limiting freedom.
Just for the record I use an iPad, it's retina screen being excellent. I wouldn't use it for image manipulation though, that's the hard way to achieve things IMHO.

A grip can be the deciding factor between buying a camera or not. There are plenty that say their hands are too big for a non gripped Pentax DSLR, and there are others who believe the grip improves the balance with longer lenses.
The notion that a grip improves the 'balance' is another thing I don't get. A lens sticking out the front of a camera is intrinsically unbalanced - that's why big lenses have tripod mounts.
And since the CG of the grip is immediately below the CG of the body, I don't see how the grip affect the balance at all.
So what do people actually mean by 'balance' in this context?

I'm not so sure....I compared at IR with the Nikon D7100 instead, which I understand uses the same sensor and also loses the low pass filter.

It makes the camera look bigger, though, right?

All functions retained except the AF doesn't work

24MP or not, if it's going to give me a noisier result, I can't use it, irrespective of all the new gismos it has. I prefer less noisy 16MP images which are more than adequate for me.

I'm going to take a look at mid range ISOs later and compare K-3 to K-5
.

All very nice, and all, but at 800px, I'm not sure what the images show.
No sensor stains?
Although the sensor stains would never have been detectable on any of the above images. Definitely not at 800px, and probably not at 100% either unless you were lucky and happened to spot them in one of the areas of uniform colour.
