More to the point, can you get an adaptor for an AF 140C ringflash?

I'm left handed and left eyed. And I don't have any problems, other than the fact that the LCD gets very greasy

Even now it'll be tough I reckon. I couldn't see any in the West London Argos branches.

yes you're right.
Actually it would be handy as a burglar decoy, come to think of it.

There are now over thirty Pentax lenses listed on the SRS website.
And as I was saying to my Dad last night, I don't think theres a single one I wouldn't buy if I won the lottery tomorrow night (unlikely since I never buy a ticket!). Every single one has a job to do, right down to the 18-55.
I wouldn't get an FAJ 75-300 again.

I can't think of a single advantage over the 55-300.

yes, I meant the K100D and K110D. It seems a little off to me to produce an SLR and then a year later declare (or at least imply) that no new lenses are going to auto focus with it. Other companies have done similar things on occasion, but I never expected it of Pentax.
Actually, if you check that link I posted just above, it's "some new lenses won't AF with it", not "no new lenses".

However, it's clearly a trend, and I can see that owners of older bodies will be miffed.

They're clearly going after new customer volume, though, these days. To support that, they'll have had to make some decisions about their cost base - and I guess they've taken the calculated risk that annoying owners of what I'll call the 'transition' dSLRs (*istD series, K100/110) is worth the gain.

Of those, they'll be hoping that many will be upgrading anyway.

I suspect that the original writer may have been referring to the K100D and K10D when he mentioned early K bodies?
Yes, I'm sure you're right, John - rereading it, that interpretation makes much more sense.

I can't find the source of this information again though
Was it here, in the FAQ section at the bottom?

Got to agree there, I really can't see how the KA3 mount is good news for anyone except the accountants.
Well... and owners of anything from K10D 1.3 /100D Super onwards, assuming that reduced costs results in reduced prices.

In a sense, even reduced costs without reducing prices is good indirectly, if it improves Pentax profitability, and if they invest the profits well.

Careful Pentax, the *ist series and early K series bodies aren't nearly old enough to be getting dumped on like this!
*ist series, agreed... there may be people with pre- 10/100 bodies that would buy the 17-70 if it had a screw drive.

But early K series bodies are manual focus, and the new KAF3 lenses will be fine with that.

I think enough of the owners of the new bodies that buy the new lenses will sell enough of the older lenses second hand for those that stick with their *ist/DL/DS to have a pretty good range of glass available.

The '100% compatibility with old bodies/lenses' thing can't be expected to go on forever. It's already gone by the wayside, given that the DAs supposedly don't give a full size image circle with the 35mm bodies.

Well, in all probability you won't have the option of going for the 16-45 soon, this new lens will replace it. And remember that the list price of the 16-45 is actually £399, and until recently you'd be lucky to get one under £300.

SRP of the 16-50 is £549.

Thanks. I'm depressed now
