Thanks guys, I could find the 60-300 for about 80quid, but not really seen any 70-210s around, plenty of 3.8-4 but not the 3.5 one....
The only one I found is in Hong Kong which I'm hoping my friend might be able to bring back for me...
I'm just wondering as good the 70-210 is, how does it compare to the 60-300? I've heard that at 60mm there's a macro function?!
Oh and Mike-P, those pics make me want the lens lol

In an ongoing hunt for a tele zoom, I've just stumbled across a few lenses that I find interesting, but not sure what people would say about them so hopefully someone will have a clue about them!
Adaptall 2 SP 70-210 f3.5 19AH
Adaptall 2 SP 60-300 f3.8-5.4

These are the two that i could possibly get, and would also be nice to know if they could be used handheld, and will they work with the 1.7x AF TC?

Many thanks

Okay I haven't got any safari or widlife shooting experience at all so don't take my comment too seriously but I'll put in my thoughts.
The set up makes sense, I'm not sure if you'll be going through cities but even if you are, I'm probably thinking that the 24-70 will be slightly redundant and you'd end up shooting with either the 12-24mm or the 50-135mm, the range you lose between 24-50 you could probably live with cropping them from the wider lens? When I was in Morocco over the summer I found the 17-70mm being used at either ends, but not much in between.
I've got no idea about the tele end for animals, but if you have a tokina 500mm as it says in your footer, would it be useful to bring it along as that'd give you more reach for the animals on the safari?

Okay, carrying a 16-45mm with a K5 onto the hills has proven too much hard work on technical ground so a pancake lens is needed.
I'm looking for a DA 15mm, as long as it's in useable condition not requiring any repairs and comes with caps.
Also looking for a zoom to cover the tele end, would fancy an A or F 70-210mm, or anything that could be recommended but in the cheap end. (have owned a tamron 70-300mm but wasn't a big fan of it for not sure what reasons..)
Could also be persuaded to part with the 16-45mm if I find the 15mm..

Thanks for looking!

emmm, ok so I'm slightly confused though guys are explaining things..
DNG works directly with PS/LR, but what about PEF? can I still shoot in PEF and import it directly into LR? I've got LR 3 64bit, and am I correct that there aren't any lens profiles for pentax lenses? (as all my photos come out saying the lens used is unknown :S)

Really, as the title says, I'm not too sure what's the difference between the two quality wise, but I tend to shoot in DNG as it's directly compatible with lightroom.
Are there advantages if I shoot in the other formats?
Thanks for reading (or answering) another silly question of mine!

Just thought I'd say thanks to the forum, I've joined since I owned my first dslr (after years of playing with mateys' of all sorts of brands), and everytime I post a picture (good or bad) I seem to get a lot of feedback and it's like having a lesson everytime and learn something new.
Thanks to all the pros here you've all been great at helping me develop as a better photographer! (at least I'd like to think so )

Thanks a lot indeed guys, I think I'm slowly getting the hang of using light and seem to be developing an eye to spot random things
Although I'm still shocking at taking pictures with a straight horizon...glasses really don't help, especially when they're that thick!
