Stefan, is that why the shots taken with the flash are half decent? Do you think there could be a degree of considerable underexposure?

Thanks everyone, guess I am well hacked off that anyone could make and sell something so poor. I wanted a camera for use on the water and I thought with a high pixel count and 5 times optical zoom the W80 would suit me. I could crop considerbly before the IQ fell off and still have a decent photo. I still can`t believe how poor the quality is though, still that`s progress!

Pete, I am beginning to lose faith with Pentax, want to keep an open mind and try something better.

Hi John, no I set the ISO manually. Makes no difference, with low 100 ISO still looks like its sprinkled with pepper dust. Looking at other review sites it seems the W80 is a dog. Pentax got this one wrong, hope they admit to it and do something or I guess the "Unfit for purpose" words will hit the mat in a local authority.

Dont buy the W80, it`s very poor image quality does not rate a price of £50 let alone £200 ish. I just e mailed Pentax and asked if anything could be done. I am not expecting much of a reply.

Well I have shot around 100 images with the W80 and I have to say none are worth keeping. So much noise it`s like they are shot through a screen. If this was the first Pentax camera I bought it would be the last one. Anyone recommend a non Pentax waterproof point and shoot?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and not what the beholder holds to his eye. Good luck to Chris, these are difficult trading times and if he has to expand the range to make his business more viable to enable him to sell Pentax then good for him. We need to buy kit from somewhere and I doubt SRS would survive long with only one or two marques.
