I worked with a Dutch salvage crew once. Most incredible bunch of guys, they seemed to have a can of beer and a cigarette after each welding rod they burned. Never a thought of health and safety, I remember the crew leader driving through the dock barrier (in the lowered position)stove in the windscreen and roof. I think the word he used over and over was verdammer or something similar. I wasn`t there when they discovered that the bolts which were fired through the hull to hold the patch were too short. May have learnt another word or two. They righted the ship though, if anyone on this planet know about salvage I would drink to the Dutch.

Ah! the French. Long may they be reminded of Agincourt. The Germans do have humour. It`s different to what the rest of the world value as humour. How many remember the BMW Isetta?

What a weekend, wicked barbecue on Saturday evening. Trouble is I got downwind of an agricultural sprayer so now have flu like symptoms by the shed load. Must remember to take antihistamines as soon as I get a whiff of spray. Telly went on the blink bigtime but then it was 4 years old. Got a very easy ok from me tripod holder when the telly salesman offered a blue ray player for under a hundred. Was going to wet the paddles again but afraid I was too ill.

Dave, how`s your back? 1000 posts passed by now. Cheers for kicking it off with filling of the woodshed. It`s truly global from Canada to the Antipodes via the Netherlands not to mention Finland.

RR you are not bashing Pentax, the W80 is certainly not known for image quality unlike previous models. Very sad because the ergonomics are champion. The Panasonic FT2 like the previous model has IQ to behold and it handles very well too, the included silicon jacket is a great help in the wet. battery life is great too.

RR`s comments are a little understated about the W80. Why dissapoint the child with second rate imagery. Encourage our wonderful life experiences through a lens. The W60 has a super image quality and is still available at a good price.

Having shot both barrels through both feet has Gordon the bigot finally buried New labour? I mean if he`s dopey enough to forget wearing a radio mike has he remembered his tax return? Now I`m trying not to be political here but there`s an old saying in the theatre "that you are never alone with a radio mike." Well! he did it himself, hoisted on his own gaff so to speak. So who to vote for now? not that Gordon was on my list anyway.

I was well dissapointed with NRM York, stupid little signs everywhere and couldn`t get a clean shot. Think I will stick with me Hornby. (should read grandsons Hornby). Their latest aquisition is a GWR mail coach, boxed and never been used. I found it on fleabay for them.
