Lack of K3 - III specific postings
Posted in Pentax Digital SLRs
Or perhaps there are others like me who simply cannot afford to indulge in a new K3-III - they are rather expensive...and for me a K1 would be more desirable - all those full frame lenses sitting in my cupboard  In any case, I think that good glass is far far more important. That isn't to say ............................. Roger
What's your latest acquisition?

An absolutely mint Tamron SP 500mm 55B. Why? dunno really. RogerBecause I wanted one when I was a teenager and now I can afford it?When I was a teenager that lens was over 30 years in the future...what I wanted, and how I wanted, with no chance of owning, was a Zeiss Ikon Contax. I had to settle for a mahogany and brass quarter-plate Sanderson I picked up at our local scout troop jumble sale. Roger

Pentax K-3 Mark III now available to pre-order!

£50 for a hot shoe cover  Perhaps I've misread it? An expensive piece of kit like that should have one as standard.

Nigel wrote: Slight temperature, a headache, aching joints (the worst bit of it all), and slightly sore muscles. It feels like I've fallen down stairs. Strange that, I had my second (Fizer) jab yesterday and, like the first, felt nothing and had no after effects at all.....so far. Not only that I can come off of the endangered species list at the end of the month. Roger

Further to my post I should point out that the adapter shown is the incorrect one! It is the single contact version that I use with my old Vivitar ring flashes. You can buy the Pentax specific one for about £25 or Chinese versions for about £8..... Sorry about that  Roger

My answer was to buy one of these cheap little blocks and leave it as a permanent fixture on the flash. It has another advantage in that it has a socket for a second flash unit - thus avoiding the loss of the stupidly overpriced and ill fitting socket cap on the camera body. Roger

Recovery of deleted files

Can anyone please recommend a not too expensive a program to recover my accidentally deleted snow shots. Yeah I've done it again. It must be an age thing..... They are raw files on a SD card. Thanks Roger

Got my Pfizer jab this morning:lol: At 9.am, minus three degrees and thick freezing fog. I definitely was not going to turn it down though. Roger

My thanks too Bill, a little gem of a book. As an one time industrial photographer I do appreciate just how good your interior shots are - I take my hat off to you sir. Roger.

Copy ordered Bill - do hope it sells well. The preservation of our remaining theatres is very important. Roger

[quote:3496ace15f="ilovesaabs"]Have you tried using the 'Seek' app on your smartphone? I do not actually own a smart phone :roll: That is the proper name of this seriously weird little wasp ! Roger

All taken with K5 and Pentax-F 100 macro. (Thank you John) First an old friend - Gasteruption jaculator: Next an old favourite - the handsome European Woolcarder Bee; Finally, can anyone identify this very impressive moth? It was too far into the flower bed for a clear shot and I could not photograph the upper wings which were perhaps a dark brown. I cannot find a likely candidate in my learned journals. It has a wingspan of about 2 inches? Of course feel free. Roger

I think we are all going a bit batty :D Grown men bearing various Pentax hardware scrabbling around on their hands and knees photographing Beeflies and other things. Worse still, I cant get up again without help  Here's my effort: K3, Sigma 105, 1/1600 sec. at f7.1. Hand-held, manual focus. Roger
Those pesky hover drone bee things - nailed it !
Posted in Your Photos
If this one is the same variety as yours David then my reference books suggest it is the hoverfly Eristalis Tenax, commonly known as the Dronefly. Roger

Our local Tesco (a superstore) unable to supply us with any bread when we went to pick up our click and collect at 10.00 this morning  Normally there is enough bread on display to fill a couple of lorries.....the police had to be called to the local Iceland store when their shelves were stripped, and the real crisis has not arrived yet. Sometimes I despair of some elements of the human race. :(

Conversion to screw drive.
Posted in Lenses for Pentax Cameras
Now completed sdm to screwdrive da*16-50, da*50-135 and da*300mm lenses. All focus faster and, in at least one case, more accurately. Because these lenses are so solidly built, the mechanical noise is well dampened and is, for example, well below that of the F zooms. Roger

Yes I believe so - the camera saves a file automatically on your SD card during the process called BACKUP.LNS or LENSEEP.LNS and it is recommended you keep copies of these files on your computer, before deleting them, in case you do wish to go back to SDM.

Just converted my 50-135 to screw drive.. Much better - well worth it. One down two to go! Roger

Can anyone kindly advise me where I might obtain reliable and proven instructions regarding the conversion of SDM lenses to screw drive? I understand that the K3 cannot be used for this purpose although of course screw drive lenses work as normal on the K3. Roger
