My gardening wife tells me that is called 'fasciation' and sometimes occurs on the tip of the main stem or flowers of foxgloves, delphiniums and other plants. :roll: Roger

A great shot - especially at Browser width. The track looks decidedly iffy at that point though, with the loco definitely listing to starboard....

It is a hoverfly - which one? Difficult to say as there are so many of these little flies. My best guess is Sphaerophoria taeniata (male). So there! :D

Excellent shot. Now would you please tell me how you managed to persuade a Blue to open its wings long enough to be photographed?:D Roger.

I remember it well, a gentle and evocative song with water effects and the sound of oars in rowlocks. And I had two years of freedom left :roll: A great picture too.

A fabulous shot ! They only appear in our garden very briefly once a year. After many attempts I have yet to get a satisfactory photograph.

I saw the light on the night that I passed by her window I saw the flickering shadows of love on her blind She was my woman As she deceived me I watched and went out of my mind My, my, my Delilah Why, why, why, Delilah? These words came back to my mind looking at you pic:Pet tu Brutus? :mrgreen:

I believe it's a butterfly, which one? Depends on the colour rendering of the shot but I favour the female 'Speckled Wood' by it's markings. Roger
