Howdy

is there any way to "force" the pop-up flash to fire on the *istD?

For some reason the automatic settings keep overiding the flash and it won't fire, even when the flash is up, unless the camera determines that there is not enough light.

I've played around with the features and I can get it to fire when I reduce the aperature and/or shutter speed but this is pretty annoying when you just want to take a quick shot on green mode.

Is there a way to manually overide the automatic settings is green mode and get the flash to fire every time you want it to?

thanks

I tried the white balance etc with no success... obviously I've just got a dud!

I'll have to take it back

I just bought an *ist D (first use about 5 hours ago) and then damn thing seems to have a major fault

The shots just come out as black with some red streaks on the LCD (both in single picture and multiple picture review). From the noise the camera is making it seems to take the picture properly but not capture the image (if that makes sense?).

Every now and then it does manage to capture the image (without being completely black) but the red balance is way too strong

It's doubt it is the lens as I purchased the 18-50mm that is meant to be used with the unit. I have tried everything I can think of (new batteries, replaced the memory card etc) but I think it is just a major fault with the camera.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, was there a fix or should I just take it back?

I am after some advise re the lens compatibility for the *ist D

I wanted to double check that it is fully compatible with my Sigma lens, specifically...
Sigma UC Zoom 28-70mm 1:2.8-4
Sigma DL Macro 70-300 1:4-5.6
Sigma Zoom 18-35mm 1:3.5-4.5

They are K-af Bayonet mounted lens

I am assuming that they will work with the *ist D but do they need any special mounts etc? Are then any issues with auto focus vs manual focus?

I am after a supplier for the *ist D SLR in central London (don't have a car so it's hard to get around... the joys of living in the big smoke).

I was wondering if anyone could recommend one with all of the usual attributes... good service, aggressive pricing etc

I have read mixed reports on this so I thought I would just ask straight out

I am considering buying a *ist D but I will only do so if I can use my existing lens (I have no desire to purchase a whole new range). My current Pentax is a z70 and I just wanted to confirm that I will be able to use these lens on the *ist D.

Any feedback would be great
