Hi Everyone,
All feedback and opinions welcome...
I was out yesterday evening getting more familiar with my Pentax K-m, it was dark and although I didn't have all my equipment (i.e. tripod) etc for night shots I tried my best with leaning on walls my bike etc to avoid camera shake (See Triangle picture).
While taking photos of building I was approached by two gentlemen who were security and they asked me the following...

1. What are you doing (I thought that was obvious with an SLR)?
Ans: Taking Photos of building.

2. Who do you work for?
Ans: Just taking pictures for my own personal use.

3. Image wrights, no problem carry on.

They were fine and let me carry on, has anyone had any problems or had to delete images etc....

Regards,
Carly

Does anyone have their camera equipment insured or can recommend if it's worth insuring a DSLR?

Has anyone had any accidents with their DSLR.
What I mean is, I had my Pentax K-m in a camera bag which rolled off the bed onto the carpet.
Again the camera was in the bag and dropped onto my foot then on the ground, it still works and seems that it can take a knock for two.
I do understand that if it wasn't in the camera bag it wouuld have got dented, damaged etc but it is still nice to know that build quality is very good.
Also has anyone had their DLSR serviced?

Regards,
Carly

Hi Everyone,
I've had my Pentax K-m for a short while after taking forever to switch over to digital photography.
Decided to stick with Pentax due to the backward compatibility with older lenses.
One question to all digital SLR users, when I slowly rotate the camera there's a slight movement inside.
This is more noticeable when the camera is off, I've removed the batteries and the lens, could this be the stabalising mechanism?
Oh by the way, there's no problem with the camera taking pictures.

Regards,
Carl

Hi Andrew,
I've got two of these lenses, one is 18-55mm DA and the one that came with the camera is the DA-l version which is lighter but both have a metal bayonet fitting.
I'm wondering if the version od lens you have is their latest?

Regards,
Carl

Hi Greytop,
First thing I have always been interested in photography from way back when I had a Practika outfit and them someone gave me a Pentax P30t and hence I've always used Pentax cameras due to at the time the availability of lenses including third party.
A couple of months ago a bought myself my very first digital SLR the K-m and I've got large hands and find it comfortable and it will also suite someone with smaller hands. I find the 18-55mm that came with the camera performs really well, the bayonet fitting on mine is metal, I have two 18-55mm the DA and DA L, the second one being lighter.
When I fitted my 50mm f1.7 lens on this camera it works very well and the pictures I got were brilliant, but bear in mind although this camera is compatible with previous Pentax lenses be careful when fitting any third party as not all of them fit even though they have a Pentax bayonet fitting, you could damage the lens or worse the camera.
Hope this helps...

Hi Everyone,
I recently made the conversion from 35mm to digital SLR, after waiting and pondering for ages to get a Pentax Digital SLR for a good price.
I've always used Pentax Cameras and after much research into the other makes etc, I decided to stick with them.
This was mainly due to the fact that my collection of lenses could still work with the lastest digital SLR's.
Currently I own a Pentax K-m with 18-55mm lens.
