Most netbooks have the same processor in them the 1.6ghz atom. The main differences are memory & hard drive sizes.

I upgraded mine to 2 gigs of memory as soon as I bought it & runs Photoshop & Lightroom very adequately.

Mine also has an SDHC slot which is very handy for transferring images from camera. Mien also has a built in HSDA modem which means it will take a sim card so no need for an external USB dongle & as it is not locked you can use any sim card which when travelling abroad can be very handedy fro getting a local sim card with cheap internet access. When I have traveleld I use the boring train / bus / plane ride to get out the netbook to edit photos & then when I am bored of that it makes a great MP3 movie player/

I certainly don't regret getting mine.

Hi Richard

I totally agree with you, however I felt that being in a large city, in a huge Jessops they would carry that kind of stock. What worried me more was that half the store had been given over to Carphone warehouse, so you actually had to walk through Carphone Warehosue to get to the little Jessops store in the corner of the shop. Most bizarre.

Unfortunately SRS are over 3 hours drive each way from me

Was in a large Jessops in a city. I went in as I wanted to try out a D700. Seriously been considering getting one of these.

The store was actually quiete large, the assistant who was very knowledgable I had a reasonable discussion with.

Do you have the D700

No, unfortunately we don't stock those, I could order one for you.

Oh ok, I really wanted to handle one as they cost £1700 I woudl much prefer to handle one first.

Yes I can understand that, its a lovely camera. Unfortunately we don't stock anything over a certain value. Head office say we don't have enough footfall to warrant the stocking high value items.

Oh right ok, could you get one in for me to try out.

Yes we could get one in for you, if you order & pay for it now.

Oh is there another branch that has one in?

Yes (this was a branch 45 miles away) they have one in stock.

I am also considering ordering the 24-70mm 2.8 & the 70-200mm 2.8

That would be a fantastic kit, I could order all that in for you.

Hmmm £4500 to pay up front to play with it when it actually comes in stock & I own it??? I don't think so!!!

it's so frustrating working here.....

The man jumping the puddle as I understand its status in photography history, is possibly due to how it was made.

Seems hcb saw the plank of wood & puddle with the poster of the circus in the background. HCB had already figured someone will come along and hop off that piece of wood, which would resemble the poster. Hence the need for the decisive moment. The talk about the broken springs representing a broken europe is just, I think, art critics making loose suggestions.

As Kris said above, no special tools, just a simple Leica.

As for Martin Parr, I don't find much technical skill involved, I do however understand & enjoy his comedic observations on life. His "rich" series is brilliantly observed.

As for other photographers I love Brassai's work along with Dianne Arbus, Eve Arnold, Anton Corbijn, Danny North & David Bailey.

One photographer whose work I do not like is Richard Billingham, either he is exploitive or he & his family has been heavily exploited by the art establishment. What Billingham photographed I used to see on a daily basis, so his photos do not shock me or inspire me either. The fact they where taken on a point & shoot even more so to be less inspired.

Tescos or Asda here, have had poster prints from both & been happy lots. I wait until they have a half price offer or some similar give away, order online & collect at the weekend, then round the corners to the framers.

I'm open for any critiques at all. How will I improve if people just tell me I am great.
Very true

As for the crop. It isn't cropped at all. That is as shot, but I agree that heads are too close to the top of the frame.
If you know the image will look better cropped, then crop it

I don't really go into all that cloning lark. However I can see how it is busy and how maybe some items could be removed.
Good luck with the not cloning lark, do you think all photographers get their images perfect out of the body??
