I feel that owners of the AF 360 FGZ flash gun ought to be aware of a potential weak point in the structure of this gun. Just recently I have been experiencing a lot of problems with this gun mounted on th K10D with gun spasmodically refusing to fire. I took it in to the shop where I purchased it and they tried it on another K10D and had the same trouble. I took it in today to Pentax UK to have looked at and the guy who looked it over whilst I waited found that the plastic around gun base and the hotshoe was cracked.
It would appear that there is a weak spot in the plastic at this point and in pushing the gun into the extremely tight hotshoe if care is not taken to push only at base connector, the plastic is liable to crack. You have been warned. Repair cost :- £54 !!!

This method on the K10D is intended to allow multiple exposures on a single frame The way it works is that you first select how many shots you require on a single frame from which it divides the total exposure required by no. of shots eg 4 shots each shot will receive 1/4 of the total exposure needed. I tried this using empty beer cans of the same type on the table top and introduced each one into the frame seperately for each shot. The first can got total exposure, the second 3/4 , third 1/2 and so on.

In answer to Mannesty's questions, the answers to the first three is YES and to the fourth is NO as I have not got another body, and last is NO but I will give it a go.

I am having a problem with this combination recently. Not having used the flashgun for some time I yesterday got it out because I wanted to use it at an event that I wanted to photograph. However I encountered a rather funny problem when I came to use it. The ready light lit just after switch on but when I pressed the the shutter button to focus, the light went out and the flash did not fire and the shot was way underexposed. Occasionally it did fire. The flash will fire OK off camera when the 'ready' light is pressed and will recharge Ok after a few seconds. The flash is set to P-TTL and Auto Flash and mounted on the camera. Am I missing something or is the Flashgun faulty or the Camera.

Thanks to everyone who took the trouble to post a reply,but no one has actually commented on any of the actual lenses which I quoted. Does no one buy new lenses these day - as someone said 'Someone has to' !!. In answer to George's suggestion about buying second hand - ok but where? is Ebay the only source which people use ? I am a bit diffident about using that source as I don't know how you go on if there happens to be something wrong with the goods when received - is there any arbitration policy. ?

I am on the verge of purchasing a Macro lens for my K10D and I heard that one is better with a 100mm lens rather than the 50mm. I have therefore looked at the specs and prices of the following :-
Pentax 100mm f2.8 at £399, Sigma 70mm and 105mm f2.8 at £279 & £309 and the Tamron 90mm f2.8 at £279 all of them the current versions.
I don't feel justified in spending £399 on the Pentax so I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on quality of results etc, from personal experience of course on any of the others.

This is a picture of the one I purchased in 1965 just before I was about to emigrate to Australia. It cost about £10 if I remember correctly. I still have it and the photo is one that I took about two years ago.

One other thing to watch if sending photos to Photobox for enlargements is to ensure that the aspect ratio of the photo is exactly the same ratio as that of the paper on which it is to be printed, otherwise you may have some of your picture trimmed or you may have white space along the edges, which is not what you want if you have asked for 'edge to edge' printing. The other alternative is to add white space in a photo editing program, to make up the required paper ratio.

Also to 'golfdiesel' I think that 'Mattmatic' is quoting measurements in inches for print sizes.

Not exactly High Street but as you are obviously on the Internet why don't you look at 'www.photobox.co.uk'. If you register with them you can upload your photos to a personal album on their site and then place an order for any size that they do. If you order by mid afternoon the order will be despatched by first class post and you will often receive them next day. The results they produce are superb, I have just had four 10 by 15 inch prints made by them and they arrived in a strong cardboard postal tube and they are magnificent.
I ordered them Sunday afternoon and the arrived first thing Tuesday morning.

Thanks guys for the info on the length of USB cables. Are long cables readily available 'of the shelf' as it were or would one have to knock one up for oneself ?
