You don't really need the foil...... you need loads of sunshine or UV light It eventually removes the yellow cast in old glass. We don't get enough sunshine in the UK and UV lights can be dangerous. The foil reflects the rays back again.
Amazing! the things I learn here!
( honest, I'm not being facetious)

This might be something to do with that dubious mod I've seen to convince the camera that it's dealing with an A series lens (involved shorting body contacts with foil IIRC?)

I've never bothered. My old lenses work perfectly well in M mode with stop-down metering and I'm not inclined to fiddle about.
Excuse me, "stop-down metering"?

I heard somewhere something about "The foil trick", something to do with the use of old lenses on digital cameras; new to me.
Any of you good folk able to enlighten me, please?

Regards, Larry.

Are you sure you are not actually saving the altered file? Are you saving it as a copy? I always use "save as a copy" and then when closing the image say no to "save changes" ;that way you keep the original file in case you want to work on it again.Next time you use "save as" make sure it is saving it in the location you want and then look to.see if it has saved it there.
Sounds to me you may actually be saving the altered images somewhere.
Thank you,
I have looked in 'My Documents' and it is not there; I do not know where else to look, any suggestions, please?

Hi John,
I've tried both, RAW & Jpeg. Both taken as RAW & taken as Jpeg.
I am not aware of having made changes, but it is possible, inadvertantly.
I have no problem making alterations to images in my various plugins, just cant get them to remain altered. I can only come out of the altered image my clicking the 'No' in the 'Do you want to save the changes' box
