You8're liable to give your ISP a fit.
Anyway, put your files in a folder and in windows explorer right click the folder. Send To>Zipped Folder to make a zipped folder and you can then attach that folder to an e-mail.
I wouldn't make each sending too big though, otherwise it will take forever to send and might fail depending on the ISP.
The other way is to use an ftp site to transfer files.

even a zip of several gig won't work as the memory required to create the zip is enormous. It needs to be lots of smaller ones.
I'd also reconcile yourself with the idea that it will take maybe a day to upload.
It's easier if it's still in the UK to send a USB stick....

John's suggestion of ftp is probably the best.
If you can use the post then the brett_kivi suggetion of a USB stick will work, or you could use two DVDs (might be cheaper).

There's a 10Mb cap on msot emails so zipping up won't do any good if the compressed version is over that.
What you can do is use RAR and compress it a multi volume rar, with each volume being under 10Mb.
The best option is to use an FTP site like rapid share though.

Just a thought ...
Does your ISP not give you a lot of free web-space?
Can you not place the file there and let your intended recipient download it?
Still think that two recorded DVDs in the post is the cheapest and easiest, though.

Sites like rapid share and the likes most of the time have a file limit, I dont think those would be really useful for 6.6 GB files.
With this you can set up your own FTP http://filezilla-project.org/

You can also create a torrent off course, certainly if you need to send to multiple persons this would be the best solution since it gets faster the more people have it.
This basically it how to make a torrent, in utorrent but they all work in the same way.
After this you can send the .torrent over the email, all they need to do is click on it and it will download your photos.

The chance of uploading or downloadng a 6.6gig file without errors is very slim.
Smeggypants has given you the best suggestion split up with WinRar but at 10Mb each that would be 660 files. 100Mb would be better with 66 files. Set Winrar just to store the files (they are already compressed) It will be a lot quicker than trying to compress them another 1%.
You would probably have to buy a single day subscription to Rapidshare at both ends for 6.6gig It's not very expensive. I think they also do a subscription based on gigabite volume. They have very fast servers.

Physically posting a couple of DVDs may well be the simplest solution to this, but you might consider the following:
Ordinarily, I much prefer the 7z format since it often gets you a much higher compression than zip.
Not that 7z's higher compression makes much difference with JPEG files, since they're already compressed nearly to the max, but the 7-zip application (which is free) is very easy to use, and also lets you split large 7z files into an arbitrary number of smaller ones. WinRar, as someone mentioned, is not free, although it does much the same sort of things.
Then for transfer, you might consider Dropbox.
You only get 2GB free, but you can pay for more, refer lots of friends (which gets you extra storage*) or just do it in several stages.
The upload will take a while, though, as has been said.

Yes indeed. And compressing. I guess it's the price you pay for the higher compression ratio. Agree that storing is much better than compressing for JPEGs whichever compression tool you use.7z is very slow uncompressing. Jpegs are better just stored
