after thinking for a long while I have finally bought an istDs which has joint now my Z1p and MZs. Well, I have a really stupid question after a discussion with a friend who is never ever using the depth of field preview: To actually see if my exposure is okay (in manual mode and aperture ring permitted), I generally use the little depth of field preview to close the diaphragm in the lens. But, I just keep it close and simultaneoulsly adjust aperture via the ring on the lens and speed on the camera. He had the theory that this might do some harmt o the camera and or lens? Well, please tell me if I do some nonsense there or if it okay!
Cheers,
Tanya

I have a totaly stupid question: After years of Z1 and Z1p I have bought an MZ-S. Well, not quite as my good old ones, but.... at least ligther and less plastic.
I have two Sigma-lenses without an aperture ring. Please tell me that I can still find somewhere a Pentax function that allows me to do that.....!? If not, I directly sell that stupid little box!.
Cheers,
Tanya
the platic battery cap on my good old MZ-5n is now completely gone....
Does anybody know if Pentax is still supplying the spare-parts?
Thanxs a lot.
cheers,

I found out the my collegue was talikng about the istDs. I think he has his wisdom form the german pentax site where they listed that under the technical data. I wonder if a lot of people will by the new istD when they can throw everything away. Strange that they cannot simply keep the compability.

As I have a quite a lot of old k-mount SMC pentax lenses and the limited edition ones, I`am just wondering if I can use them on the digital *ist using the camera in complete manual mode? A collegue here told me that on the D*ist I can only use old k-mount ones with extension tubes? Is that right?
thanks for your help.
cheers,
Tanya

I was simply not too sure if I do something wrong and, the technical details are not really chinese for me as I am working in a Uni Physics department
I was not frightened, but simply on holidays happily testing my new digital toy along with the good old slide films
Many many thanks to all of you!
