The lens arrived today, it was described as used condition, but must have been well looked as after a quick clean up it looks pretty mint to me. Not bad for £35 plus postage from ebay. Thats why I chose a Pentax DSLR over the other brands and also why I returned to Pentax.

Before I started this thread yesterday I put in a "low" offer on a Pentax-A 50mm f1.7, same as I had before, to my surprise this morning my wife text me to tell me the offer was accepted so soon I should hopefully once again own my favourite lens!

Thanks for the info, would I be right in thinking the Ricoh Lens would be completely manual unlike the Pentax-A lens?

Hi, I'm just after a small piece of advice, to cut a long story short I sold my Pentax-A 50mm f1.7 when my K10D broke and I thought I was going to change to another brand. Problem is now I am back with Pentax I miss that lens but I am on a very, very tight budget and have seen some Pentax-A 50mm f2's going for almost half the price of the f1.7. Can somebody please tell me if the image quality is much different between the two?

Thanks everyone, Steve that is very refreshing to hear as it seems a lot of other forums, gallery sites and magazines put too much empthasis on enhancing every image with Photoshop etc. I've already picked up a few tips and look forward to learning more.

Hi, I'm Lee I've been lurking on and off for the past year and I have enjoyed reading the threads. I thought it was about time I introduced myself.
I started with a K10D bought second hand from SRS but after damaging it I made a brief switch to Canon but almost instantly realised my mistake. Thankfully due to this forum I was able to pick up a second hand K20D and a WR 18-55 kit lens and resume my love affair with the mighty Pentax.
I do not own any flashy lenses and I am always on a tight budget (due to having a wife, a mortgage and two young daughters) when it comes to photography equipment so for now I make do with the WR 18-55 kit lens, an old Sigma 70-300mm APO (gold band not red) that I picked up for £60 off ebay and a Pentax-F 28-80 zoom that cost about £35 also from ebay. I'm always trying to improve my photography but prefer not to do much if any post processing other than straightening a horizon and maybe a bit of cropping. Having said that I have been known to spend hours dabbling on photoshop just for the hell of it! Thanks for reading.

Sounds like a good lens, I'm always on a very low budget when it comes to buying Lens and other stuff for my K20D and wouldn't mind trying to get one myself would you mind telling me where you purchased it from?

K20D arrived today, can't thank you enough! It feels good having a pentax back in my hand, how could i ever have let myself be tempted by a canon!

Sorry I had actually meant to reply to a different thread selling the same camera! Your thread must have popped up in the meantime. I'm definitely intrested in the camera though.
