And most important of all!.... I was up on hadrians wall last year and this N***n chap turned up, with the light approaching "perfect"...he had come up from Newcastle especially to photograph the wall with Crag lough in the distance,he spent 15min setting up the tripod,replacing the lens,adding filters......the golden moment was upon us when he mounted the camera....turned it on!..guess what?.....no battery's!..................

I've got an old Tamron 200/500 F6.9 if you are interested,manual focus and weighs a ton.......a monster of a lens...Ken

I think I would start with a 50mm 1.7 "A".....a great lens....oh so sharp,great for portraits and general around the house stuff!....can be had second hand, for less than £50.....
