I'm with John on this one!.......I use Pentax batteries to be on the safe side, then there can be no comeback if anything goes wrong. When you think what you pay for Cameras and lenses genuine batteries are a small price to pay,,.............Ken

Naaa, 300mm for portrait work from a distance and ultra wide for when she puts on weight [/quote]Not forgetting to use the "Slim " filter on the K20D.....

I suppose it depends how much image quality you will sacrifice with the TC!,,,,,,,Pentax could do with bringing out a 400 and 500mm prime,to finish the DA* range off!...........Ken

Of course there were sharp shots of flying birds before AF!...but comming across this Heron ( I know from experience how quickly they get airbourne), you would have a job picking it up in the viewfinder, never mind trying to focus on it!.......The answer is to use either a hide, which there often are in these places, or take your own!.....then sit and wait!..............Ken

Hi Ron!.......It' a common problem when you use a Rocket blower inside the camera, the dust gets blown up inside the viewfinder!....I won't use one now,I just stick with my Arctic butterfly!.......I wonder how it got there?...............Ken

Manual focus on the shot you attempted,(Heron in flight) would be just about immpossible using manual focus!,flying across and away from you is a hopeless situation!.Auto focus is the only way for birds in flight, fair enough if they are sitting, then you can use MF,but everything else use auto, another point is the K20 does not produce the sharpest of images straight out the camera!......good luck!...Ken

In my opinion your Heron in flight is probably as good as you will get with that lens,at that distance!....I think you need something longer and faster unless you are going undercover......A hide or a cam net would help!..............Ken
