I am going for the 150-500 from SRS. The warm fuzzy feeling of having the warranty sells it.
Only stumbling block is the car has to pass its MOT on Wednesday
Fingers crossed for the car.
If the worst comes to the worst buy your lens and swap the car for a skateboard

Choices at the long end for Pentax aren't that numerous. This thread was very useful :

It's such a pity that it didn't include the SIGMA zooms!
I'm currently tempted to change my 120-400 for a DA*300 - or go mad and get a SIGMA 300mm f2.8!
It looks like I need to track down a Tamron Teleconverter.
Let me know if you hear of one.
Cheers
Andy

I had thought about using a T/C with the 60-250 but when i contacted SRS they said that there wasn't a T/C which works successfully with the 60-250mm
both would have to be bought used.
Do you think the teleconverter option is the best way forward?
Any clues as to where i can get one in the UK?

Have you considered investing in a good quality teleconverter, a 2X would take you to minimum aperture of f8 and give you an effective 120-500 lens, the f8 shouldn't be a problem with the K5's ability to handle noise at high ISO
Perhaps you could get some feedback from anyone who's used the 60-250 with a T/C.

I purchased one of these from a pentax forum member and I paid £142.00 inc postage from France.
