ffordes was selling one the same 2/3 weeks ago for £699. The lens was listed for 3days.
Frankly, I'm surprised it lasted so long

It's not a 35mm f2 prime it's the 35mm f2 prime. It is a superb lens and a bargain at that price.
true...
I was thinking of getting it for the times I don't want to lug my 31/1.8 or when my wife is using that one.... but naaah,
31 is 31... that is THE lens

Nice lens. Is it fire proof?

not bad for 1.2 indeed....
frankly, I'd love 55/1.2 just shame Pentax never did any
oh well, I'll have to be happy with my Ks (50/1.2 and 55/1.

But the numbers aren't everything.
I mostly take them a glance to see how even the sharpness is and look at the distortion but for the rest I look at the full sizes photos he upload at the end, those are the most useful tools of the whole site.
You can look how the bokeh is, the colours and the contrast, those aren't tested but they are the more important aspect of a lens for me.
I agree Stefan!
Those are the numbers I look at... as for the full size shots. Sometimes I do look sometimes I don't...
But generally you are right here....

I'm casting vote for Sigma 10-20/4-5.6.
Excellent lens. Great IQ and very good price!
My gave me quite a few PPG accepted shots....

I don't think people at Photozone are very biased. For most their reviews are pretty accurate. I skip the "conclusion" bit as that is just one man's personal opinion.

Sigmas 24-70 (both old MK1 and the new HSM) have quite a good reputation.
Tamron 28-75 is very popular in this segment but it's built quality does leave something to be desired (reportedly as I have never owned it).
And then of course there is Pentax FA*28-70 which many swear by!

Personally I was leaning towards the Sigma Mk1 before I decided to go primes
