HI JOHN - I thought you might like to know that I went to the link you provided and downloaded the App. The name when I ran it was still FluCard Pro but it ran OK and loaded all the jpegs from the FluCard Pro in the camera to my laptop. I am now satisfied and happy many thanks to you for your efforts.
All are for the flu-card pro but some are 'pro' aps

so you have
FluCardŽ Pro Instant WIFI (Windows) = works with pentax card
FluCardŽ Pro Instant WIFI Pro (Windows) = NOT compatable

Confusing but true

It says under preparation of update, 32 mb card or more.I don't have a 32mb card only 16.Do you need a card in the camera if you update attached to the computer?
Your confusing 32Mb with 32Gb !!
you have a 16GB card it will hold roughly 500 firmware images

The number of diaphragm blades and ISO have zero effect on DOF.

There's a lot of issue over this. Why?

Just buy a K3 with a Pentax 300mm f/2.8 or 400mm f/2.8 or even a Pentax 100-400mm f/4 and try it out. What could be more simple?

Best regards
Interesting posts and much misleading advice being bandied about.
IMO
usable apertures Vs Focal length (ignoring IQ requirement i.e stopped down)for field sport shooting.
under 300mm f.28
300-400 f4
400-600 f5.6
600-1000 f8
anything less than this cannot produce the DoF required for commercial sport reporting.

It's the tracking rather thsn out and out focus speed that matters, if something travels from infinity to you in under two seconds, it'll likely kill you...
I am so stealing that quote

I was trying to point out thst speed is not the only factor, I'd happily sacrifice some of the blazing for a little finesse, I like the system that has been employed in the K3 in principal over Canikon, it seems far more eloquent solution. John I never implied that Pentax was not up to the job, quite the reverse really, merely pointing out the few shortfalls (supposedly) in the Pentax system. I actually stopped short as I was typing on my phone and got fed up of it! I mostly prefer the Pentax approach but more focus points are good and that colour meter could give the system a good heads up in all situations, like it.
I think I'd go one step further and be happy to state that the Pentax K5 when shipped was probably the best sports camera against is direct competitors for linear moving targets. (track field motorsport etc

The d7000 was the best for random moving targets football

And the 60d was a great door stop

Fast auto modern 300mm lenses with a minimum aperture of f2.8, 400 lenses with f4, don't seem to figure in the Pentax collection.
Fast long lenses are pretty desirable for wildlife photographers too, especially for birds and other wildlife darting around in their natural habitat. Easier for a bird photographer inside a hide with his tripod mounted camera.

Don't forget the DA* 300mm F4 is like a 450mm F4 on a FF that the "Pros" use.
The DA* 60-250mm F4 is like a 90-375mm F4 this will be my lens for rugby and football coupled with the K3 and its 24mp crop potential.
And the Sigma 300 f2.8 and 500 f4.5 are available in Pentax mounts I don't see long lens line up any issue for anyone wanting to shoot sport with Pentax.
my line up for 'sports' use
Pentax 50-135 f2.8
Sigma 70-200 F2.8
Pentax 300 F4
Sigma 400 f5.6
Bigma

I find most of them max aperture is about min DoF at focal length in use so nothing faster would work.

Well, there will no doubt be a vociferous response, but I don't think it is so bad. I see lots of superb Pentax shots of all sorts of sports.

People shot sports before autofocus and autoexposure or even motor drives and they did very well at it. It was a matter of practice and skill. Modern cameras take a lot of the difficulty away in some ways, but there's still no substitute for the skill.
Completely agree. There can never be any certainty that an autofocus system will choose the intended subject and that applies to all brands of camera. Some seem to expect too much from their camera and expect it to think for them.

I've owned Nikon D3/700/300/300s and Canon 1D MkII/50D/5D MkII/7D.
Now then, all of these appear to focus fazter and track better than Pentax K5/IIs, I say appear becsuse I've never been totally convinced by any of em!
They are all capable of getting it very very wrong. The Pro bodies have loads of AF options, invariably you are in the wrong one when you really need it!
On balance the Canon 7D gets it about right, enough points to catch a subject but not too many to confuse the poor operator in a pinch. I had accuracy issues with that one too however! The BIggie is speed of acquisition belped along by shorter throw lenses, Pentax has none of these and so the K3 will no doubt be pulled up for something which is not the bodies fault! I firmly believe however that longer throw lenses are far more accurate than short throw, and therefore are actually more sensitive to movement. The second biggie is having enough focus points to track the subject across the frame, they need to be in a fairly tight group to be able to lay off focus to one a other, something avain pentax has been lacking... Until Now
Totally agree, also as soon as you say sport the poor Pentax get put against 1d2 and d4's rather than d7000 and 60d's , the k5 was faster than both those bodies but less refined leading more tracking issue both due to speed (af'd off target) and lack of random movement acquisition.
Both these have been addressed with 'big boy' feature as in AF hold and AF hand off
The first frame capture options will also be a bonus , but I think the only way Pentax could lose their 'it can't do sport' old wives tale is if those who know not what there talking about kept quiet

OK. awaldram. I've just had another look and you're right. It was one of those optical illusions where things look the other way round and I thought there was a hole where there is actually a pin. Silly Me. However this makes me think? what about the other steel pin at the other end of the grip. Does this need removing also?
CHEERS Vic.
I was bound to be right I took the picture

No the other pin fits into a larger hole, it appears the dgb-5 is the same as the dbg4 but the pin diameters were altered.

Does anyone know why that pin has been removed? It seems it is a plunger and when the grip is mounted it is pressed in and doesn't fit into any holes of any sort. Therefore it should still fit on a K3 but what is its function?
CHEERS Vic.
I think you looking in the wrong place

The lug to remove is the steel pin , the reason it need removing is is a smaller diameter locating hole on the K3.

You could also drill out you K3 if you preferred

It's very unlikely that any modifications required would be a butcher job. IOW things could be returned to normal
As you've ripped out 1 -2 locating lugs there is no going back so it is butchered.

Though the grip will still fit the K5 after so in that regards is OK.

To make it anything other than a stop gap I'd also chamfer the plastic ribs to get a better fit , then it really woudl be Butchered

The easiest way to fix the buttons is swop the plastic tops over I haven't bothered as it only a stop gap for me and having striped a grip down previously there is just to many screws for me to bother.
