You have switched on Bright/Dark Area in the playback menu. The red area indicates blown out highlights, the yellow are no detail just plain black. Just go into the menus and uncheck the appropriate box.

Don't know about the flashing screen offhand.

Hi, i was wondering if someone could help me out with two problems i'm having with the K7.

The first is when i view my pictures back in playback mode a strange painterly effect usually red in colour or sometimes yellow flashes on screen especially in a light area of the picture, i was really worried at first but it doesn't affect the picture when transferred to the computer.

The second problem is when i switch the camera on the display screen flashes for about ten seconds and then is fine.

I'm selling the K7 and hopefully someone on the forum can help me out with these problems, thank you

I've had a couple of the cheaper ones, which have failed due to the buttons being pushed in too hard whilst being carried around in my over-loaded camera bag.
I've recently ordered replacements a super budget £2 model one with a built in intervalometer. This time I intend to find rigid box for the one I carry, and eave the advance model in a draw for when I need its special features.
I've not seen any that look substantially more robust except for DIY models (they are very easy to make)
BTW many (but not all) Canon models use the same connector
Thank you Mike, looks like the cheaper ones aren't much good then unless they're carried separately.

Hi, i've been looking for a remote release cable for the K7, im a bit confused at the price range i've seen them for £20 down to £3, i'm not going to be using it that often but at the same time i don't want to just waste money on the cheapest i find if it's just rubbish, i was wondering if other forum members could advise me and also if they are a viable accessory to anybodies kit bag, thank you.

I once posted a picture in the gallery and asked for critique, i was told by a member that i should have posted in the "my photo's" section as the gallery wasn't for this, i had no idea how to use the forum let alone post a pic and have only recently found my way round it, if you don't get the critique you asked for in the forum then what's the point, i will continue to post in the gallery and comment on some of the lovely pictures that have been posted, whether or not that person likes mine or not, however since that posting which was quite a while back i have had lots of help from some very kind members who use the gallery and am truly grateful, so it's the gallery for me David.
