Thats what I was worried about, so it did compress the size? I was thinking of getting lightroom five or photoshop Elements, which one do u think is better?

I am going to lighten up pictures, sharpen, make vivid in some etc. Which version would be better? Thanks.

Hi I am thinking of downloading this to enhance my photoes before printing them for display. The only thing that worries me is if the image resolution will b compressed,so that I cant have my finished product enlarged without noise showing.

How can I get round this please? Thanks.

Sounds like your editing software has produced an emailable image rather than a printable image
Hi I am using fast stone at present. In the edit tab I click on set DPI and at the moment I have been putting 240-300. Is this the right size to put please?

Got the disk back from the shop, half of them couldn't be saved as the person who did it said a lot of the files have corrupted. I had a chance to show some of my work to a church of the Christmas tree festival, now it's been taken away from me (as is per usual) and I now have nothing. A lot of the photo's are obscured by a grey blank screen with only a slither showing at the top, I might of well have saved myself £15, and not bothered with it at all.

It may not be a big deal to some people, but it is to me. A lot I can take again but it's things like a sunset, and something which only happens once a year. My life seems nothig but full of disapointing set backs at the moment. Really depressed I should never have taken the camera to her, and this would never have happened.

I am using Fast Stone at the moment and I found where I can change the DPI, so I have been putting 240-300: is that right or should I be putting something else?

The files that you took to the print shop, what size were they
According to the printers when looking on the memory stick, they were 72dpi. The size on the disk when I clicked on properties is 156 KB (159,828 bytes) what ever that means.

What size did you request to print
A4 or equivalent. But according to the size it was, I had to have it smaller.

I tried to work on a file through Gimp, I pressed save as and tried to grab the file through Picassa but it said the file was obtainaible. When I go to the file in my documents itkeeps loading up Gimp instead of the picture. can you tellme what I am doing wrong?

I'm experiementing with Fast Stone at the moment.

Put the little slide tab to write protect
is that in the camera, and how do I get to that? I got into a bit of a panic last night as I thought I had lost everything, I went round castle cameras this morning and apparently they have recovered 500 images! I didn't know I had taken that many, going to cost me £15 to have it put on disk apparently.

Thanks for the link Aero thats very useful.

'm a bit puzzled as to how your friend could check anything for you if she hadn't used a digital camera before
She still works with film and has a Hasselblad camera.
