Yes, but what size is the sensor? Most non-DSLR digital cameras use tiny little sensors. Lots of noise, usless at higher ISO's.

In fact, I don't even use the sharpening from Capture One even! I let it output "soft" images which sharpen up beautifully with some techniques in Photoshop
Matt
I do the same with the Adobe RAW converter; Photoshop has many more subtile sharpening techniques that give better results.

That "soft jpeg" nonsense came from one reviewer, and personally if I were to shoot jpegs, I'll do my own damn sharpening in Photoshop, thank you very much.

Better to retain detail without artifacts than create an artificially "sharp" image which is permanently ruined!

It worked for the macro lens I just bought! But I've been given a limit.

Oh, well, at least I got the lens!

If you're going for a new wide lens, try the 16-45 instead. It's more expensive, but it's a great lens!!

Other than that one lens, I'm mostly using old M and A lenses. I have one FA zoom, the automation is nice but hardly necessary!!

Do you have a similarly shaped piece of plastic and some electrical tape or duct tape? That could take care of it!

That's why you get noise in the shadows when you try to pull too much out. The trick, as mentioned, is to get as close to the right side of the histogram as you can without losing highlights. RAW capture is linear, not logarythmic, so the previously metioned first F stop is half the range.

I use two 2 GB Lexar CF cards in my *st D, they have something called Write Acceleration technology which makes them blazingly fast. You might look for SD cards with that technology, the Pentax cameras are able to use it.

For street shooting fast write times are key. The Lexars may cost more but they're worth it!

I suspect that the .pef's produced by both cameras follow the same standards. You probably can use ACR. Try it and report back.
