Nope, no special mode for wired remote.
My guess would be that you're probably right about the battery. (assuming the thing isn't broken to begin with, battery probably the first and best option).

Is that a screw tip on the transmitter? If so, is some sort of antenna missing? Don't know enough about radio, but it may not work well without a proper antenna.

Otherwise I have not seen such a device before so any real help is limited.

What is Power Zoom anyway? I've heard of it but never seen it or know any details of what it is. I always thought it along the lines of the Wide/Telephoto toggle buttons on point-and-shoots.
What does Power Zoom give you such that manual zoom would not have allowed you to take that photo?
(I see myself simply spinning the zoom ring to max, and firing away. Hard to imaging a motorized method being faster.)

Two of the cards are Kingston 2GB,. They are about 9 months old. The other is Sandisk Extreme III 4GB and only a week old when the problem first occurred.
All of them exhibit the same behavior at the same time frame.
So I think it is more a camera issue than card issue.

I was hoping (grasping at straws) for a potentially magical solution, but I probably have to admit to myself that the camera needs repair.

Anyone hear of problems in the K10D with intermittent errors reading and writing from the SD card?
I have been getting errors "image not stored", "image cannot be read",
"no card", etc... I've switched through several cards and the same errors occur.

The problem first occurred last week at an event.
I've since taken a thousand photos without problems.
Then yesterday at another event, the errors started happening.

Besides karma being against me, any ideas if this is something that can be fixed without sending the camera on an eight to ten week vacation at the repair shop?

I've pulled the batteries, tried defaulting the settings. I've even re-formatted and wiped the cards using recovery software.

I think I'm stuck with the repair option, but hoping someone has alternative ideas.

Thanks!

I must say I LOVE tethered shooting. Well in some circumstances.
Did a shoot of some paintings and could see right away on screen that each was perfect color, focus and tat all the texture was there. (Would be nice if the software allowed full screen view, but with auto save that is easy enough to do with third party software).
I was tied down to a tripod to begin with, so being tied to a USB rope didnt matter. Maybe not as nice if you have to move around with the camera much.

One thing I did notice is that the automatic timed shooting does not work well.
Tried to do constant 30 second shots during a lightning storm one night.
A few shots worked fine, then the software or the camera gets stuck. It seems there is some data transfer problem with mildly long sequences of shooting.
I missed every lighting strike because I was playing with resetting the program!

Those look great!.
Well, mine just arrived a few minutes ago. (or so UPS tracking says it has).
I have to wait until I get home from work to actually get my hands on it and give it a whirl. I'm looking forward to checking it out.
Hopefully I'll have something worth posting.

Great job on judging another hard one.

Must say I was shocked about what PS displays as far as gamut warnings. Silkypix displayed none of that. Mild warnings in the bright whites of the packaging and on the handle, but I'd expect those. (no detail to lose there anyway)

BTW, I don't know if you can get any software than wonder bread. Certainly not on the bread side of things.
Funny thing is that the bread was smashed into the fabric and dried into a near concrete like substance. I for one would not want to eat Wonderbread.
Don't need concrete innards.

Had fun setting up the lighting and backdrop on this one. More fun bashing the "Wonder Bread"!!
Does "Wonder Bread" exist outside of the US? So soft you can barely hold it in your hands. Actually damaged a few slices while getting them out of the bag! Some tend to 'wonder' what it does to your body if you were to actually eat it. (small kids love it -- that should tell ya a lot )
