Hi guys and girls...

I have just gotten my remote for using on the K10D. I was getting fed up with using the timer and getting some shots, but missing others, as the situation changed, before the timer was firing.

So this is the unit:

got it from fleeBay, but the seller failed to sent any instructions. Anyone using one of these, please let me know. Need to get this thing working before the wknd!

Thanks

You need to set the channels the same on both parts, you could try putting them all on zero but there is a small chance that some other device could be using the same channel because they have left their thing on the same default. I presume the larger part plugs into the camera?

Is that a screw tip on the transmitter? If so, is some sort of antenna missing? Don't know enough about radio, but it may not work well without a proper antenna.

Otherwise I have not seen such a device before so any real help is limited.

I thought that was the end of the antenna but you're probably right, probably get one in Tandy/Radioshack, RS or similar.

Thanks for the prompt responses. I thought, like you pointed out, to put all the switches on both units to the same position. But that was not working. Also they antenna does indeed extent, but its just the same.

This is the item on eBay:

Happy to post some better images, but I think there is not much to it. Suspecting a dead battery in the receiver part, as the remote part has a flashing led that works when pressed.

Does the K10D need to be in a certain mode to receive a wired signal (the unit plugs into the wired port on the K10D)?

Nope, no special mode for wired remote.
My guess would be that you're probably right about the battery. (assuming the thing isn't broken to begin with, battery probably the first and best option).

I think I'd have spent the extra and bought a remote contol F, especially as it works from behind the camera as well as in front on a K10D.
Anyway I hope it is just the battery that is the problem for you.
