It's a lot easier than that to check a split screen. Put it on a tripod about 3 ft high. Focus on something vertical say a gap in a door/frame. Tilt the camera/tripod to the top of the door. If it still shows it's in focus..... throw it in the bin

If a cheap Jessops filter is good enough for an £800 prime lens
it's good enough for anything

How about they produce the same (or a similar) effect in the viewfinder electronically.

I use liveview a lot for focus confirm, but I don't like holding the camera like that, and the way it's set up is a pain. At least let us enlarge the central part of the image leaving the rest unaffected, Pentax.
The Refconverter lets you switch between 1X and 2X and looking down isn't really a problem.... just like 6x6 really. Very accurate for MF.

People are asking for split screens, but no one bothers checking how accurate they are I'm 100% sure they won't ever be introduced again on a camera.

Its not, but us one time SFXn owners lusted after this camera
I thought the Z1 and Z1-P were brilliant cameras especially with the grips. The two wheels with Hyper modes were much better than anything that had gone before. Just like a digital with a bigger viewfinder really, but for film
Functionally they are brilliant, looks-wise they are, to my eyes at least, butt ugly. But then I think most cameras from the 90s onwards look ugly! Somehow many cameras of the MX and OM1 era have a elegance about them. Perhaps I am overly nostalgic...

K.[/quote]Just had a look at my mint Z1-P with the grip on it and it's gorgeous Contoured to fit the hand much better than my K20D and actually has 3 Dials not 2 The 3rd dial would be handy on digital to save going into the menu. The only thing about it that is ugly is that it has another push button above the lens release button, but that's been put there to keep the moaners quiet, who would complain if there wasn't a DOF preview button, which this what this button does and they probably never use it.
It's not as nice without the grip

How does "RAPIER surface to air missles you have sitting in the garage" get past ebays scanners?

I read somewhere that the early settlers that went to Australia missed the sound of the Song Thrush so much that they imported some, but the birds didn't like it and some moved to NZ
