The Sigma EX 70-200 F2.8 works fine with my *ist D.
The Tamron also does. But both manufactures have minor problems with quality control . It is reported that some Tamrons XR-DI 28-75, made in China, do not perform as good as the Japan ones.
My above mentioned Sigma has a faulty cemented lens. Since I bought it used on ePay I have no waranty anymore. It has no effect on the pictures.

Hope I get some Euros back from the former owner.
Newer digital optimized lenses generaly tend to underexposure. Blown out lights will destroy a picture forever. I used to shoot in RAW. So I can correct the exposure just to the point I want.

Two types are avaible from Pentax. These are grid types.

The split-srceen is custom made.
They us a MX Split-screen and size them down for *istD(s).
Best choice for manual focusing!
But at the moment the split screens are sold out.

Contact Reimund [email protected] , he speaks a bit English.
I hope they soon start a new series, I also need one.

Be careful if want to use it with an autofocus Pentax. (i.e. *ist(D), ...)
It might get stucked to the body. Some Ricoh lenses have a special pin that stucks in the AF transmission hole of the PK Bajonet. It's very tricky to remove the lens afterwards. If this happens a thin (~0.1 mm) gauge should help you.

You need to update the firmware. Switch to manual mode,
turn the aperature ring to the desired position, by pressing the green button the speed is mesured and stored (it can be varied by wheel or generally +- 2 stops). Take your picture. Thats all - works really fine.
