Hi,
If the *ist is anything to go by, the *istD will not take any lenses that don't have the "A" seting. I think this has to do with the electrical contacts, most of which affect the metering. My son has an *ist and although it will work with "A" lenses all my others are useless. He nearly didn't get the ist because of this. A shame really because one of the great things about Pentax has always been their backward compatability. Oh well that's progress! I believe it is the same for the MZ60.
Regards
Kim

You need to update the firmware. Switch to manual mode,
turn the aperature ring to the desired position, by pressing the green button the speed is mesured and stored (it can be varied by wheel or generally +- 2 stops). Take your picture. Thats all - works really fine.

We are assuming that the son has M lenses, but if that is the case he is in for a very pleasant surprise. My six M lenses are now easy to use again.

I just bought a 55mm F1.8 screw mount for my *istD. It looks like a wonderful lens.

I have an *ist D and Pentax PZ-20 and I've never used the screw mount lenses nor can I see how they would attach. Do I need an adapter and if so where can I get it?
Thanks,
Dan

You need a K mount adapter, cost around £12.95, which will effectively turn the camera mount into a screw mount while it is fitted.
Best regards, John

Thanks John.
While we're on the topic, I was wondering if anyone has used a Tamron Adaptall lens with an *ist D. Seems like it would work to me. Any experience out there with Adaptall?

Has anyone tried to use screw mount lenses on an ist d ? i want to get an ist d if i can use my promura 135 f1.8 screw mount and 300 f4 as well as my k mount lenses..but if they dont work well it would be to expensive (as yet) compared to other brands
