Great shot Dave, how do you manage to get so close with out spooking them? and where are you located that you can see these birds and be able to take such wonderful pictures of them?

I suspect an Owl could hear a Pentax K-r shutter from a mile away Not bothered by me at all just 15 metres away in my car, as a hide.

Thanks for the nice comments. I was in my car and using it as a hide. They are not that easily spooked, as birds go. There are large numbers of these near and on the Essex Marshes, near where I live in South Essex. There has been a large influx from Northern Europe this winter after a very successful breeding season there.

Thank you for the complimentary comments from everyone. It really is the result of a good location, good subject and a decent camera. For those that mentioned jealousy - I perpetually feel the same about other people's shots. Nothing wrong in that, I think that's what gives us the bug to try and improve.
