Steaming away
by davidtrout
In pouring rain two 4-6-0 locos, Class B1 No. 612642 and Class 5 No.45407 get a heavy charter train 'The Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express' away from Carlisle on Saturday. They are heading for the high Pennines on the Settle-Carlisle route. The same two engines were working together the previous weekend at the East Lancashire Railway.

Excellent image - the atmosphere is superb. I love the way that the steam pattern blocks out the view and makes you guess the way forward.

Puts me in mind of the Thomas the Tank Engine stories, where two engines have a hard job coming and have to work together to succeed. I like the crop and the steam.
