Tornado at Twyford
by davidtrout
New build A1 Tornado was on the Great Western mainline a couple of weeks ago when I caught it at Twyford, Berks. It was pouring with rain, the light was poor, hence 500iso on my K10 with a DA50-135mm lens. I estimated the train was doing around 50-60mph.

A fine capture in difficult conditions, conveying a sense of power.
I thought it was going to be in your native North East David, when you said you had a pic to show, but this engine seems to be all over the place.

I love that green colour of the engine. What a nice choice, it looks so good and matches well with the black! What I like most about the picture is the angle and the downward going which enhances the powerful look PGWeber is mentioning.

A good result David considering the weather. She is an awesome locomotive and I still haven't seen her yet although she is at Crewe on the 24th June (The Border Raider) so I have my chance. I just hope my camera is back from the repairers by then

Thanks for your comments. Its not the best pic I have of Tornado but as I said the light was against me that evening. The next date when I plan to photograph the A1 is on June June 23 when it's due to tow the A4 Mallard from The National Railway Museum at York to Locomotion at Shildon, just a few miles from where I live.
