Smoky Start 2

Some of the steam enthusiasts might remember my earlier pic "Smoky Start" exhibited in My Gallery a couple of months ago.
When I heard that another engine of the same type was taking a train through Sheffield and making a water stop at the same place on a hill, I thought "There'll be fireworks again!".
Sadly (in photographic terms) the driver did better, making a smooth hill-start and with a heavier load than his predecessor. However I think it's a nice pic anyway.
The loco is Ex LMS 4-6-0 'Black Five' No. 44871, shot yesterday leaving Heeley Loop in the South of Sheffield. The train is a day-trip from Cleethorpes to Chester.
Shot with K10D+50-200 as a PEF.
p.s. Shame on you, the last steam engine was 504 pictures ago, Paul Collins' 'Mayflower' on 21/05/10.

When it was such a lovely day, it seemed a shame to make it mono.
However I do like mono steam shots as you can almost pretend they were from days gone by and there should be some good contrast possible.
Still not experimented with PSE for cloning/effects so prefer to leave it as shot.

No smokey start but that Black 5 has plenty of steam to spare Peter. Its a good shot with the sun bringing out the best of the colour. I agree with Cliff about the white blotches distracting the eye, but they are easily fixed.
