Cresswell Crags
by davidstorm
This place is not particularly beautiful, but is interesting nonetheless. Situated in North Notinghamshire, near the border with NE Derbyshire, it is a narrow limestone gorge which contains many caves on both sides of the gorge. These caves were inhabited by Stone Age man and a multitude of wild beasts. Bones of various Mammals have been found, including Mammoth, Hyena and Lynx. One of the caves contains the only Ice-Age Rock Art to be found in the UK; this has been dated to 13,000 years ago. There is evidence of Neanderthal and Human occupation in the caves ranging from approximately 60,000 to 13,000 years ago.
Not the greatest location for photography but interesting for other reasons.

I like the warm saturated lighting on the side of the gorge. The lighting in the sky at the far end, pulls the eye through the scene.

It looks like a fantastic location to shoot! Like your shot too, though would prefer the foreground a tad lighter.
