I had thought that the dark side of this photo would provide the harmony for the black & white. For this reason , I didn't crop the dark side, but it can be cropped a little bit more. Thanks for the useful suggestions and comments.

I'm with you, Emre. By my opinion the black right side is needed by the picture, that draws my eyes to his face. But I agree with Graham's suggestion, the darkening of the post/pillar helps the finding of the main subject in the picture.

It may make it even better, if you darkened the light post / pillar on the extreme left; as this is competing with the face.
