That was my first camera too and like you I thought about looking for one on ebay as a reminder of how things have progressed. Where would we be now if we only had disposable flashes! Like some, my next camera was a Zenith E which I bought to do my photography CSE at school. My first Pentax was a P30T. Can't see how to edit my post to say that having looked at ebay my first camera was probably a Kodak Instamatic 155X which was made between '71 and '77 which would fit as I had mine when I was about 10.That was my first camera too . . .

By all appearances of the poll, most of us got started with a compact film camera of some sort. In other words we are a forum of mainly old fogies, though a talented bunch.
I think we can start a museum with some of these musings.

Yes, I do. I have a number of cameras in my collection that go back to 1940s vintage, with some that never have been used and are in mint condition with original box, etc. Sadly some like my first camera I was given when I was an early teen are no longer. It was vintage when I got it (Kodak Brownie), and used it until it finally said that it was a wonderful life.

I don't personally have my first camera any more but it is still in my family's possession. I gave it to my sister when I upgraded to a Petri 7S 35mm rangefinder, which I do still have. My sister still has the Kodak Brownie in its original case, somewhere.

Mine was a Minolta Dimage Xt.
It was great! 3.2 MP but A4 prints from it still hang on my wall today.
(I'm cheating a bit as I did have a few disposable film cameras when I was really little).
I've recently acquired a MG and a ME - so I'm using film for the first time apart from my disposable forays - and I'm loving it.

.. 110 thingy with truprint films...I grew up in the 80s. Then nothing until 2002 when I got a Dimage 7. Used that until three years ago, when I got my K10D.
