Hi! I have been looking at various options for my K10D and am now thinking of the Samsung 54?? which as far as I can see is a rebadged Pentax 540 flash. Any comments on this?

I've never heard of a samsung 54 - nor can I find any reference to it on google! Do you have a link?

Wow. At that price it's very tempting. Only about £30 quid more than the Sigma, and presumably less risky in terms of compatibility (?)

If it is exactly the same, electronically, I would be amazed.

But the camera is, isn't it? So if the flash can talk to the GX10, it should be able to talk to the K10D.

I know... more holes than Swiss cheese.

Whoops. I meant: If it is NOT exactly the same, electronically, I would be amazed.

That's even better news.

(and, incidentally, I was referring to my own assumptions/hopes about compatibility as having the holes, not anyone else's).

Now I've got the Samsung number for the flash gun SEF-54PZF I can look around for it. Thanks for the 2 links.

Yes. When done properly.

There's a thread on this somewhere.

Samsung flash for £180!!! It is rather annoying that Samsung stuff is so much cheaper. Are they subsidising it (and making a loss) or selling it at minimum profit? I mean they are buying it all from Pentax to start with...
