Whereas the Pentax i-10 was about the same price as the Hyundai i-10........LOL could'nt resist.
£200 to £250 is probably going to be the launch cost, although £200 would be the better bet when compared to rivals.

Only £199.00 on SRS. Lower UK price than I expected. It will be interesting to see some reviews of this thing.

Are there any proper reviews for this yet? I'm considering a bridge or compact for travelling where I wouldn't want to risk the DSLR and would be interested to know how it compares with other similar cameras.

To be honest, I don't wait for reviews, I just assume that it will be fine.
I've used the X90 extensively and it performed very well. I've used the back lit sensors in other Pentax cameras and they have been fine. Put the two together and there's no reason why the X-5 should not be fine also.
I would buy an X-5 if I needed one and be confident that it would be useful and effective. If by some mischance I hated it, then there's a period during which it could be returned for any reason from many if not all suppliers.

I think a bridge camera has it's place.
anybody looking to do macro or super tele shots on a budget (say vacation safari or gardening shots), could do worse... for the cost of a used d-slr lens an x-5 used properly could certainly hold it's own against many a shot I've seen taken by amateurs with pro d-slrs.

That's what I feel too, Don. I moved up from a bridge to the K-r and the photos are definitely much better, but there are too many occasions when I miss out on a picture because I either don't have the DSLR with me or would prefer not to take it because of the risk of damage/theft in certain situations/countries.
