I have recently bought a Pentax Optio RX18, do I have to re-enter date etc every time I charge battery. ?

No, not at all. It does however depend on how long you leave the battery out.

A spare battery is always a good idea, to keep rotating them, and you'll never have "down time" then.

You could also check that when you set the date and time you actually finish the process properly by saving the changes - this is one thing that is easily missed in the Pentax menu system. If you don't do this it will mean every time you switch the camera off you will need to reset date and time, so it is easily spotted.

Spare battery is always a good idea, one of the essential items to purchase, IMHO.

Thanks for the info, I will get spare battery asap, I assume to save, you just click OK when time etc is entered. as I can't find any "save" in menu. Another thing is, I bought a 32gb card hoping to get a good length of video time, I can get 10000 photos but only 10 mins video. Is this usual ? Once again thanks very much for info John, snappychappy I wish I could take photos a fractionas good as you.

IIRC there is a "Finish" button to complete the process.
